Base pay range
$110,000.00 / yr - $165,000.00 / yr
Responsibilities
- Lead and manage design tasks for transportation engineering and planning studies
- Prepare conceptual designs that are accurate, feasible, and visually engaging
- Prepare plans, specifications, and estimates (PS&E) for transportation engineering projects, including complete streets, bikeways, traffic signal, signing / striping, and lighting projects
- Develop scopes of work and fees for multi-disciplinary traffic engineering design projects
- Manage direct client interaction and communication with members of the public through community engagement
- Market and bring in new projects by nurturing client relationships, preparing proposals, and presenting in interviews
- Perform field work, such as site review preceding design, and support during construction
- Mentor and train colleagues and receive mentorship from senior staff
Qualifications
4-10 years of experience in transportation engineeringBachelor's or master's degree in transportation, civil or electrical engineering, urban and regional planning, or a related majorCalifornia PE license in Civil Engineering, or ability to obtain through reciprocity within one yearExperience applying Caltrans, MUTCD, and AASHTO design standardsExperience developing construction documents (final design, PS&E) for traffic engineering projectsUnderstanding of complete streets, including separated bikeways, protected intersections, and roundabout layoutFamiliarity with signing, striping, and traffic signal plansFamiliarity with safety countermeasure selection and designFamiliarity with mobility issues and the Safe System approach to safetyExperience leading proposals and nurturing client relationshipsInterest and experience mentoring and training staffAdditional Desired Qualifications
