Lifeline Community Services is a premier nonprofit organization in San Diego County, dedicated to empowering individuals and families to achieve self-reliance and long-term stability. Our diverse service portfolio spans housing, behavioral health, youth development, and anti-human trafficking initiatives, operating across multiple locations.

Position Overview

Under the supervision of the Program Manager, the Housing Navigator is responsible for providing services to families and individuals in need of housing and services through a client driven wellness and recovery model that is strength based, culturally relevant, trauma informed, consumer driven, and outcome based. These services may include client advocacy, case management, benefit establishment, linkage to mental health and substance abuse services, linkage to stable housing and all other supportive services as needed. Housing Navigator will provide individualized client support by helping each client develop a plan to address their barriers, increase their income, and maintain and sustain permanent housing. The Housing Navigator will also work with local property managers, property owners and owners to find new partnership opportunities for survivors who have housing vouchers or income to sustain rent in their own apartment. May participate in law enforcement operations and 24-hour "on-call" emergency calls placed by the San Diego Human Trafficking Task force and other local law enforcement agencies.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in counseling, social work or related field with minimum of two years providing case management, supportive services and / or housing specific services required; Master's degree in behavioral health with BBS registration (ASW, AMF, APCC) preferred.
  • Multi-lingual or Bi-lingual strongly preferred, with strong preference given to English / Spanish.

Responsibilities

  • Assist client in locating, securing and maintaining long-term / permanent housing.
  • Assist clients in developing knowledge on requirements to secure housing.
  • Assist clients in understanding the language in leases and their rights and responsibilities.
  • Aid in lease negotiations with landlords.
  • Create SMART goals with client to help them meet the necessary requirements to secure housing.
  • Develop and maintain collaborative working relationships with property owners, community partners, housing programs, shelters, apartment managers, etc.
  • Gather, compile, and maintain current housing market data, housing resources and opportunities to provide information to clients seeking housing.
  • Schedule / Compensation

  • M- F, 8 hours a day (9-5 : 30pm; includes minimum one evening per week and may include some weekends)
  • BA - ($21.00 -$23.10) MA only - ($24.22 - $26.44) MA + BBS - ( $30.00 - $33.00) Salary will commensurate with experience and education. EEO.
  • Additional Requirement

  • Must have a valid driver's license and reliable transportation with a good driving record.
  • Willing to use own, properly insured, reliable vehicle for the job (mileage reimbursed).
