As part of a reimagined Top of the Rock experience, the most iconic vantage point of Manhattan now includes The Weather Room Bar and Café. Named after the formerly functioning National Weather Service’s Doppler radar that sits atop the 70th floor of Rockefeller Center, The Weather Room offers distinctly New York food and beverages in the clouds.
All ingredients and prepared foods are sourced from fine purveyors across Rockefeller Center’s campus and throughout the five boroughs. Guests can enjoy espresso drinks, baked goods, counter sandwiches, and snacks while taking in the iconic view of Top of The Rock.
Position Summary
We are seeking a passionate and service-driven General Manager to lead our team and deliver exceptional guest experiences at The Weather Room. This role is responsible for fostering a high-performing, collaborative team culture, ensuring positive guest experiences, and driving business performance. The ideal candidate is a visionary leader with a passion for hospitality, operational excellence, and team development.
Job Duties & Responsibilities
Operational Leadership
- Oversee daily operations across all shifts, ensuring consistency in service, quality, and guest satisfaction
- In conjunction with the Director of Operations, develop and implement operational procedures to optimize efficiency and profitability
- Monitor and manage labor, inventory, and cost controls
Team Management
Hire and onboard front-of-house and back-of-house staff, working closely with Human ResourcesLead, mentor, and develop department managers and staff across front-of-house and back-of-houseExpand and maintain training materials, conduct regular service training with staff, and drive team engagementConduct regular performance evaluations and provide coaching and feedbackFoster a culture of accountability, inclusivity, and continuous improvementFinancial Oversight & Operational Compliance
Analyze financial reports and key performance indicators to drive revenue and control costsCollaborate with Director of Operations on budgeting, forecasting, and strategic planningEnsure compliance with all financial, legal, and regulatory requirementsGuest Experience
Champion a guest-first culture, ensuring all patrons receive exceptional serviceAddress guest concerns and feedback with professionalism and urgencyMaintain a welcoming, safe, and vibrant environment for all visitorsQualifications
3–5 years of experience in a General Manager or senior leadership role in a high-volume hospitality environmentStrong emotional intelligence, experience mentoring and coaching teamsProficiency in restaurant management systems (POS, inventory, scheduling, etc.)Excellent communication, leadership, and organizational skillsNY Food Handlers’ Certificate required within 60 days of hireTIPS Certification preferredAbility to work a flexible schedule including nights, weekends, and holidaysEssential Functions and Physical Demands
This role requires the ability to :
