Medical Assistant II
University of Iowa Health Care is seeking a patient-centered Medical Assistant II to work in our Sioux City Family Medicine Clinic. This position supports our Family Medicine Clinic where you'll spend more time with patients and expand your physician-support and administrative duties, increasing the efficiency and productivity of the physician and anticipating future needs to facilitate the flow of the clinic.

Summary :
Under direct supervision of LIP (licensed independent practitioner), RN (registered nurse), NM / ANM (nurse manager / assistant nurse manager) or other licensed designee, functions as a member of the patient care team. Performs technical, patient care and related clerical functions in the urgent care setting by coordinating all elements of the patient visit.
Duties to include :
Under direct supervision of physician, physician assistant, nurse practitioner or registered nurse.
Performs technical, patient care and related clerical functions in an ambulatory setting.
Duties may involve the use of electronic word / data processing equipment and / or conventional office equipment.

Percent of Time : 50-100% (20-40 hours per week)
Schedule : Variable hours 7am - 5 : 30pm Monday through Friday; no weekends, no on call, no holidays

Pay Grade : 09
Salary : $40,903.92 - $60,760.80 (at 100%) (Hourly $19.59 - $29.10) (based on years of experience)
Minimum Eligibility Requirements :
Certification OR registration as a Medical Assistant OR completion of a recognized one-year Medical Assistant Program, OR Completion of a health care profession program with a curriculum incorporating elements of a Medical Assistant program including but not limited to : pathophysiology, medical terminology, basic pharmacology and medication administration including dose calculation and psychology.
Special Qualifications :
Excellent written and verbal communication skills are required.
Highly Desirable Qualifications :
The ability to adapt quickly to different clinical environments and patient populations is highly desired.
Desirable Qualifications :
Minimum 6 months ambulatory experience.
Previous EPIC Experience
Demonstrated experience fostering a welcoming and respectful work / academic environment.
