About the Role
The Staff Accountant is a key member of our Homestay & Dormitory Program, working directly with our Company Controller (CPA). This role involves a blend of daily accounting tasks, financial analysis, and support for strategic initiatives.
Key Responsibilities :
- Calculate and process monthly / ad-hoc ACH stipend payments to host families.
- Support annual financial audits and tax preparation alongside the Controller.
- Maintain daily bookkeeping and general ledger in QuickBooks.
- Perform account reconciliations and manage company checkbooks.
- Handle Accounts Receivable (AR) and Accounts Payable (AP).
- Provide financial analysis for new company initiatives, acquisitions, or property projects.
- Review, edit, and manage contracts through Adobe Sign.
- Complete additional accounting assignments as directed by the Controller.
Qualifications
Experience : 1–3 years required (3+ years a plus).Education : BS / BA in Accounting or Finance preferred.Technical Skills :Intermediate to advanced QuickBooks and Microsoft Excel required.Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Outlook.Professional Skills :Strong attention to detail with excellent organizational and multi-tasking ability.Effective written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.Professional phone presence and customer service mindset.Self-motivated with the ability to work independently with minimal supervision.Persistent, detail-oriented, and deadline-driven.Other Requirements :Ability to work full-time (40 hours / week) on-site at our Derby, CT headquarters.Flexibility to work overtime on weekdays when needed.English fluency (reading, writing, speaking) required; Mandarin Chinese proficiency is a plus.Compensation & Benefits :Base Salary : $50,000-$60,000 per year (DOE)
