Our client is currently seeking a strategic and detail-oriented Procurement Manager to lead their purchasing operations in the Fort Washington, PA area. This role is responsible for optimizing procurement processes, managing supplier relationships, and ensuring timely and cost-effective acquisition of materials to support production and program goals.
This job will have the following responsibilities :
Team Leadership :
- Lead and mentor the procurement team, fostering industry-specific expertise and ensuring efficient purchasing practices.
Strategic Sourcing :
Identify and negotiate with suppliers to secure high-quality materials at competitive prices, enhancing overall job profitability.Shipment Oversight :
Monitor incoming shipments, proactively resolve delays or customs issues, and maintain clear communication with Program Managers.Budget & Compliance :
Confirm funding availability and obtain necessary approvals prior to initiating purchases.Returns & Credits :
Manage the return process for rejected materials and ensure timely receipt of associated credits.Vendor Management :
Maintain and update the Approved Vendor List using performance metrics and supplier self-assessments. Conduct onsite audits to verify compliance with quality and contractual standards.Supplier Development :
Build strong supplier relationships and identify new vendors for Engineering evaluation.Sustainability Initiatives :
Collaborate with suppliers to reduce packaging waste and support environmental goals.Market Intelligence :
Stay informed on market trends, regulatory changes, and industry developments to adjust procurement strategies accordingly.Contract Review :
Evaluate and recommend improvements to vendor contracts to ensure favorable terms and risk mitigation.Operational Support :
Assist with various purchasing functions as needed to support team and organizational objectives.Qualifications & Requirements : Bachelor’s degree in Business, Accounting, or a related field.Minimum of 10 years’ experience in materials purchasing within a manufacturing environment (precision part manufacturing preferred).At least 5 years of experience managing small teams.Proficiency with ERP systems (SAP preferred).Familiarity with ISO 9001 standards is a plus.Excellent verbal and written communication skills.Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and ability to multitask.Personable, self-motivated, and proactive in taking initiative.
