Responsibilities Work in the Ortho Neuro Surgical (ONS) Progressive Care Unit with mixed acuity across two floors Care for a diverse patient population including neuro, ortho, surgical, and general medical cases with telemetry monitoring Unit includes 64 beds with RN patient ratios of 1 : 4 and CNA ratios of 1 : 8 Common procedures include post-operative care, neuro interventions, orthopedic trauma, wound care, and telemetry Use of Epic EMR system is strongly preferred Night shift position with 12-hour shifts Weekend rotation required, up to 4 out of 6 weekends Float as needed to other adult inpatient units within scope of practice, including Med Surg, Heart and Vascular, Oncology, and Observation No mandatory call requirements Scrub color is navy blue Unit uses a pod structure supported by RNs and nurse aides, with separate charge nurses for each floor Orientation includes 2 days department-specific and 2 unit shifts with a preceptor Support available from phlebotomy, respiratory therapy, hospitalist, and nurse clinician Monthly audits require at least 90% compliance with pre / post pain scoring Holiday time-off requests must be made prior to offer; current holiday RTO not accepted No time off is approved during the Sturgis Motorcycle Rally blackout dates each year First-time travelers will be considered with required experience and Epic EMR proficiency Free parking is provided Requirements Active RN license in South Dakota or a compact state Minimum of 1 year recent intermediate / stepdown (PCU) experience required BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications required Completion of a nursing education program approved by a board of nursing Experience with telemetry monitoring, neuro, ortho, and surgical patient care preferred Ability to manage cardiac strips, chest tubes, trach care (excluding fresh traches), NGT tube placement, JP drains, PICC / Midline / CVL / PIV lines, wound vacs, medication administration, TPN / tube feedings, blood transfusions, and collection devices Experience with drip titration of medications such as Heparin, Insulin, Cardizem, Amiodarone, Levophed, and beta blockers preferred (training provided as needed) Epic EMR experience required for first-time travelers Must reside at least 100 miles from any Monument Health facility for eligibility Permanent staff must wait 1 year before returning as a traveler Benefits High Pay and Bonuses Medical, Dental and Vision Insurance with Day 1 Options 401(k) Plan Weekly Payroll Deposit Free Online CEUs Generous Housing Allowance Travel and Licensure Reimbursements Non-taxed Per Diem and Subsidy Traveler Rewards and Discounts American Traveler Job ID P-608377.
