What You'll Do
Leads and serves a large and complex organization through coordination with multiple stakeholders, individual contributors, and front-line team members
Monitors potential influence of weather, aircraft mechanical problems, air traffic control constraints, fuel supplies, security issues, labor problems, or other sources of disruption to the overall airline operationEstablishes the Airline's strategy and objectives ahead of irregular operations and ensures activities are carried out in accordance with the operating planEnsures AA remains in compliance with all governmental requirements, e.g., OSHA, TSA, FAA, and Department of Transportation, through the development and implementation of proceduresAdvocates for passenger's interests to satisfy DOT 259 Enhanced Protections for Airline Passengers regulationsSeeks opportunities for continuous improvement; provides recommendations and implements initiatives to reduce cost, gain efficiencies, and improve customer service and employee experienceDemonstrates and cultivates collaborative relationships across all workgroups and teamsEstablishes and maintains open communication and a collaborative relationship with all levels of union leadershipAll You'll Need For Success
Bachelor's or Master's degree or equivalent training / experience5+ years of leadership experience leading large teams in Technical Operations, Integrated Operations Control, Airport Operations, or Cargo, including unionized frontline workgroupsThis job is subject to Department of Transportation (DOT) drug and alcohol testing. Your previous employers will be contacted to verify if you had any DOT drug violations and / or refusals to test for drugs or alcohol in the previous two year period. Your DOT required urine specimen will be tested for the following substances : Cocaine, Marijuana, PCP, Amphetamines and Opiates.Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) Aircraft Dispatcher Certificate preferredIn-depth knowledge of the airline industry and technical operations, American Airlines (AA) business strategy, company policies and procedures, and collective bargaining agreementsStrong technical knowledge of aircraft maintenance procedures, as well as FAA policies, practices, and proceduresAbility to influence others through outstanding interpersonal skills, collaboration, and negotiation skillsAbility to be an action-oriented and results-driven leader, with a natural aptitude for engaging employees across multiple workgroupsAbility to think strategically, negotiate skillfully, digest complex details, and use sound judgment and initiative in making decisionsAbility to handle simultaneous operational issues, prioritize and work well under pressureAbility to build and facilitate relationships at all levels of the organization, both internally and externallyExcellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to handle complex topics comfortably and to interact effectively with all levels, both verbally and writtenAbility to work a varied scheduleAbility to travel, as neededApplicant selected will be subject to a government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirement for access to classified informationWhat You'll Get
