Heavy Equipment Operator
The purpose of this class is to be responsible for the operation of the most technical heavy equipment, to assist in the construction, repair and maintenance of county streets, drainage systems, beaches, and related infrastructure and participate in the supervision of a small crew.
The functions listed below are those that represent the majority of the time spent working in this class. Management may assign additional functions related to the type of work of the class as necessary.
Requires High School diploma or GED equivalent.
Requires four + years of experience in road, bridge, beach, drainage systems construction or repair or closely related experience.
The work is typically performed while sitting, standing, bending, crouching, or stooping. The employee frequently lifts light and heavy objects, climbs and operates tools or equipment.
The work is typically performed outdoors, occasionally in cold or inclement weather. The employee is exposed to noise, dust, dirt, grease, machinery and chemicals. The work requires the use of protective devices such as masks, goggles, gloves, etc.

Must possess and maintain a valid state class A commercial license with an acceptable driving history.
