Senior Staff Accountant
We are seeking an experienced Senior Staff Accountant to oversee financial reporting and operational accounting processes within a dynamic hospitality and gaming environment. This role is critical in ensuring compliance with GAAP standards, maintaining accurate financial records, and driving process improvements. The ideal candidate will combine technical accounting expertise with leadership skills to mentor staff, enhance workflows, and support cross-functional initiatives. Occasional travel may be required for on-site training and support.
Key responsibilities include :
- Lead the preparation and review of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.
- Ensure compliance with GAAP and internal accounting policies across all reporting.
- Perform and review complex account reconciliations, journal entries, and month-end closing activities.
- Collaborate with property-level teams to standardize and improve accounting practices and internal controls.
- Identify and implement process improvements to increase efficiency and accuracy in financial operations.
- Provide day-to-day guidance and mentorship to staff, including performance feedback and training.
- Conduct onboarding and ongoing professional development for accounting team members.
- Partner with cross-functional teams to improve accounting systems, workflows, and reporting accuracy.
- Analyze financial data to identify trends, variances, and opportunities for improvement.
- Assist with budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis.
- Serve as a liaison between property-level accounting teams and finance leadership.
- Support internal and external audits and ensure compliance with industry-specific requirements.
- Manage and maintain the company's master vendor list and cash recycler configurations.
- Maintain knowledge of financial requirements specific to gaming and hospitality.
- Occasional travel to other locations for on-site assistance or training.
Skills and qualifications required :
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.4+ years of progressive accounting experience, preferably in hospitality, gaming, or resort industry.Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other Office applications.Solid understanding of GAAP and financial reporting standards.Experience with Microsoft Dynamics GP and SWS software is preferred.Strong leadership and team development skills.This is a permanent position based out of Riverside, IA, with a pay range of $75,000.00 - $90,000.00 / yr.
