Fire Inspector
The City of Friendswood is currently accepting applications for a part-time Fire Inspector. The hourly salary starts at $22.58 per hour. The work week will consist of approximately 8 hours per week. The purpose of the job is to assist the Fire Marshal's office with duties such as fire safety inspections, plan reviews, fire prevention education, and fire origin and cause investigations.
Work Performed :
Education : High school diploma or G.E.D. equivalency, and Texas Commission on Fire Protection - Fire Inspector Certification.
Experience : 5-7 years of firefighting experience, with experience in fire investigations and fire safety inspection. Two years of undergraduate education in Fire Science, Fire Engineering, or Fire Protection is preferred.
Required Licenses, Registries, and Certifications :
Duties : To assist the Fire Marshal with non-law enforcement duties such as fire safety inspections and city ordinance enforcement. Conduct public fire safety education and training programs upon request.
Skills : Interpersonally adept, ability to effectively deal with the public. Ability to read blueprints and architectural drawings. Ability to recognize fire safety hazards and apply fire prevention codes and procedures. Excellent verbal, oral and writing skills. Ability to make public presentations.
