Disaster Recovery Services Coordinator

The Salvation Army Divisional Headquarters located in St. Louis, MO, is looking for a DRS Coordinator. This position is responsible for advancing, managing (including contract, fiscal, and personnel aspects), planning, implementing, and developing the disaster recovery services program in the Midland Division.

This is a Full-time exempt position, 40 hours per week, $64,000 yearly.

• Operational Oversight :
• Oversee operations of the Disaster Recovery Services Department, including efficient handling of issues and timely resolution of challenges. Ensure the implementation of policies and procedures
• Monitor performance of the department to assess operational efficiency, compile reports, and ensure that daily activity and productivity comply with grant funding requirements and goals of all long-term recovery efforts.
• Work with the Divisional Social Services Project Manager to identify gaps in operations and workflows and provide necessary solutions to ensure the continuation of successful long-term recovery.
• Finance and Contracts :
• Plan, monitor, and manage Disaster Recovery Services budgets, monitor expenses, and ensure responsible allocation of resources.
• Ensure all financial obligations and invoices are submitted and paid in a timely manner.
• Lead the timely creation and submission of all disaster response-related grant applications. Develop and pursue new funding resources to support long-term recovery operations and growth.
• Ensure all monthly stats, financial reports, and other required data are being completed and submitted in a timely manner.
• Team Leadership and Management :
• Assist in the hiring and training of Disaster Recovery Services staff, fostering a collaborative and high-performing culture.
• Provide guidance and professional development opportunities to team members to enhance their skills and capabilities.
• Conduct regular performance evaluations, set clear objectives, and facilitate constructive feedback to promote individual and team growth.
• Regional Coordination :
• Collaborate with statewide regional stakeholders and active participants in long-term recovery groups to develop and implement long-term recovery efforts.
• Assist in the development of long-term recovery groups in regions impacted by disasters.
• Participate in Coalitions Active in Disasters (COADs) meetings in different regions and serve as a representative of The Salvation Army for long-term recovery efforts.
• Serve as a liaison with SEMA and FEMA during long-term recovery work.
• Act as a liaison between statewide regional teams and senior management, providing regular updates on progress, challenges, and opportunities.
• Build and maintain local expertise with the different disaster-impacted communities in the different statewide regions to create and foster partnerships between Disaster Recovery Services and community stakeholders that will benefit participants.
• Represent the organization as needed to promote a favorable public image of The Salvation Army 's Disaster Recovery Services Department.
• Additional Duties :
• Create and maintain a positive work atmosphere by behaving and communicating in a manner that fosters good relationships with others. Professional and appropriate communication to and about co-workers, supervisors, and subordinates.

• Will be required to travel at times to disaster-impacted regions within the Midland Division.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in human / emergency services or related field, master's preferred, with a minimum of three years related work experience. At least two years of supervisory experience preferred. Must have grant writing / management experience. A combination of training and experience will be considered. Must have good communication skills and an ability to work with diverse cultures. Strong leadership style and good organizational skills are required. A commitment to carry out The Salvation Army's mission is essential. Knowledge of The Salvation Army and Government, State, and community resources is helpful. Requires reliable transportation, a valid Driver's License, and passing the Salvation Army Motor Vehicle Report screening. Must demonstrate ability to think independently and exercise sound judgment. Must be a team player, a self-starter, able to handle several projects at the same time, and perform well with minimal supervision.

Physical and Working Conditions

Must be capable of performing the above essential duties in an office environment to include using a computer, answering phones, etc. Occasionally lifts 24 pounds. Most work will be indoors in a temperature-controlled environment. However, occasional outdoor travel is required.
