Job Description
School Psychologist (Special Education)
Responsible to : Director of Special Education
Qualifications :
- Specialist or Doctorial Degree in School Psychology
- Certification in school psychology in accordance with state law and the State Board

Sufficient experience to perform dutiesNASP certification preferredEssential Responsibilities :
To enable student s to derive the fullest possible educational experience for school bypromoting their sense of self and addressing any behavioral, psychological or
mental health problems
Helps identify within the school all exceptional studentsHelp to maintain a system on all referred students; pre-referral and referral meetingsand maintain appropriate levels of confidentiality in all matters pertaining to
students, parents, staff, and programs
Administers psychological tests and interprets assessment results for the purpose ofdiagnosis and placement, assesses, designs, and modifies instruction for student
with a wide range of disabilities in the special education and general education
setting
Assists in the development of Functional Behavioral Assessments and BehaviorIntervention Plans; assists with the implementations of positive behavior support
systems
Provides individual and group counseling and other mental health services asappropriate
Works collaboratively with others in a school-based / academic settingConsults on special educational needs of exceptional childrenAttends multidisciplinary team meetings for placement of individual studentsProvides consultation to teachers, parents, and school staff as neededPrepares and submits psycho educational reports within the legal time linesActs as a liaison with community agencies that provide services to childrenAttends staff, professional, and interagency meetingsAssists with in-services training of school personnel and provides in-service trainingsas needed
Keep abreast of new developments and laws within the field of school psychologyAssists students, families and schools deal with crisis situationsMay be a member of the school system emergency crisis teamAssists in researching and planning programs that meet the special needs of thestudents
Assists with Child Find and necessary evaluations and placementAttend regional and national conferences to maintain appropriate licensure and bestpractices in school psychology
Other Responsibilities as determined by the Director of SchoolsGeneral Requirements :
Follows Federal and State Laws and adopted policies and procedures in accordancewith School Board priorities
Conducts oneself in the best interest of students, in accordance with the higheststandards of public education and in support of the District's Vision / Mission
Statements
Maintains ethical standards, which include professionalism and the protection ofconfidential student and staff information
