Senior Automation Engineer – Siemens PCS 7

Location : Sioux Falls, SD

As a Senior Automation Engineer , you will play a key role in supporting customers and project teams in Process Automation , with a strong emphasis on Siemens PCS 7 platforms . This role is ideal for an experienced engineer who thrives in industrial environments, demonstrates technical leadership, and contributes to the development of sustainable automation solutions.

Essential Functions

  • Provide expert-level knowledge of Siemens PCS 7 platforms, including architecture design, programming, and implementation.
  • Lead the design and deployment of control system architecture, including hardware, software, instrumentation, and networking.
  • Apply advanced knowledge of process controls, identifying parameters, managing risks, and ensuring measurable outcomes.
  • Interpret and apply P&IDs, instrumentation, and industrial control equipment to real-world solutions.
  • Develop and implement control algorithms using both analog and discrete control methods.
  • Independently execute advanced batch control and analog control strategies.
  • Lead loop checking, startup, troubleshooting, and commissioning for large-scale industrial projects.
  • Author and review functional requirements documents, including detailed descriptions of control loops, interlocks, and alarms.
  • Provide mentorship and technical guidance to junior engineers and project team members.

    • Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Science degree, or Associate's degree in a related field.
  • Legally authorized to work in the United States.

    • Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering.
  • 7–10 years of industrial controls engineering experience.
  • Proven expertise with Siemens PCS 7 platforms, including project execution from design through commissioning.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead projects and mentor engineers in a professional services environment.
