About our group :

The New Product Development (NPD) Transducer Design Team plays a critical role in integrating cutting-edge recording head technologies into Hard Disk Drives (HDD). Our team oversees data from wafer processes, recording head performance, HDD performance, and reliability feedback. We also conduct failure analysis and implement actions to improve product quality based on these insights.

One of our most critical areas is analyzing reliability failures. With limited quantities, it is essential to track and analyze failures within specific groups accurately and efficiently.

About the role - you will :

We are seeking a Software Engineer to develop a web-based interface that enables designers to automatically track reliability failures using data from multiple sources and databases. You will :

• Design and implement a web-based dashboard that aggregates and visualizes data from multiple structured (e.g., SQL databases, Excel files) and unstructured (e.g., log files, text documents) sources to provide comprehensive insights for the NPD Transducer Design Team.
• Develop robust data integration pipelines to pull, join, and harmonize disparate data sets, ensuring data accuracy, consistency, and real-time or near real-time updates for effective reliability failure tracking.
• Ensure the dashboard supports intuitive filtering, searching, and reporting capabilities, allowing users to efficiently analyze reliability failures within specific groups and make data-driven decisions for product quality improvements.
• Write clear documentation for system maintenance and future expansion.

About you :

Your experience includes :

Master's or Ph.D. in Computer Science, Electrical / Mechanical Engineering, Physics, or related fields and must be enrolled in school for Fall 2026.

Our Normandale campus spans two suburbs, Edina and Bloomington, and serves as the Recording Head development and manufacturing arm of Seagate. The estimated base wage range for this position is $22-$43 / hr. The individual base wage is based on work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.

Seagate offers comprehensive benefits to its eligible Interns, including, but not limited to, medical, dental, vision, and participation in the employee stock purchase plan. Seagate also offers Interns 12 paid holidays and a minimum of 48 hours of paid sick leave. The benefits for this position are based on a 24 to 40-hour-per-week schedule for a full calendar year and may differ depending on work location and tenure with the Company
