Project Planning
Lead large technical teams, including management of staff. Defining scope, timelines, and deliverables. Aligning project goals with institutional strategies. Coordinating across clinical, technical, and operational teams. Managing risk assessments and mitigation plans. This function is foundational and often consumes the largest share of time, especially during pre-work and configuration phases.
Stakeholder Engagement and Communication
Facilitating communication between IT, clinicians, Epic, consultants, and leadership. Leading steering committees and advisory councils. Preparing and presenting status reports, decision summaries, and SBARs. Managing communication and organizational change alignment.
System Configuration and Workflow Alignment and Oversight
Customization of Epic modules to meet clinical and operational needs. Decision tracking for build options and workflows (e.g., Orion building blocks). Coordination of specialty-specific workflows (e.g., resident attestation, APP supervision). Integration with third-party systems.
Training, Go-Live, and Optimization Support
Overseeing end-user training and readiness. Supporting go-live stabilization and KPI tracking (e.g., Gold Stars, MyChart adoption). Lead post-live optimization efforts. Ensuring alignment with compliance, legal, and patient experience goals.
Marginal or Periodic Functions
Adheres to internal controls and reporting structure. Performs related duties as required.
