About The Position

Job Title : Anesthesia Tech

Hours per Shift : Monday - Friday; 6 am - 2 : 30 pm; holidays, weekends, on call, callback as needed

Experience : Two years of experience as an Anesthesia Tech

License : BLS preferred (American Heart Association only)

Certifications : Certification by a nationally recognized professional certifying body preferred

Must-Have :

• Two years of experience is highly desired
• BLS certification is a nice-to-have

Description :

Assist in the care of patients undergoing anesthesia.

Prepare anesthesia equipment prior to the patient's arrival.

Place anesthesia monitors.

Ensure the cleanliness of anesthesia equipment.

Ensure the availability of specialized anesthesia equipment and supplies.

Set up medications and supplies where applicable.

Continuously communicate with anesthesiologists, residents, CRNAs, and anesthesia technologists.

Assist clinicians with difficult intubations and the placement of central line catheters.

Operate the cell-saver machine.

Keep track of lab reports.

Participate in advanced surgical cases including cardiac, liver transplant, vascular, thoracic, and trauma.

Work directly with service-specific faculty.

Provide on-call coverage.

Provide primary support in ensuring that anesthesia equipment is in good working order.

Complete preventive maintenance on equipment.

Set up and operate sophisticated equipment and perform advanced troubleshooting.

Serve as the key resource person for specialized equipment.

Assist in the development and implementation of in-service training programs.

Train staff in the roles and responsibilities of an anesthesia technologist.

Perform equipment setup and troubleshooting for infusion pumps, nerve stimulators, defibrillators, and transport monitors.

Calibrate anesthesia machines and attach fiberoptic bronchoscopes to video monitors.

Set up rooms between cases.

Set up carts throughout the day.

Provide full service setup at the end of the day.

Work with other hospital units to ensure availability of specialized anesthesia equipment.

Perform setup and support for ectopic procedures for anesthesia care.

Provide backup to shift supervisor in their absence.

Perform other duties as assigned.
