The

Manager, Social Media

is responsible for positioning Major League Soccer as the most engaging and innovative sports brand on social media. This role involves producing content with MLS teams' photo, video, and editorial teams, and strategizing distribution across @MLS social media channels to meet organizational objectives. The manager will oversee content creation and publishing during the week and on matchdays, and play a key role in growing the MLS fan base at both club and league levels, including supporting partnerships such as with Apple TV.

Responsibilities

Plan, create, and post content for MLS social media platforms including TikTok, Instagram, Twitter, and Facebook, on weekdays, evenings, and weekends, especially during games and major events.

Collaborate on the content calendar and manage day-to-day social content publishing in our brand voice.

Provide live match coverage during weeknights and weekends.

Coordinate communication with social and digital leads of all MLS clubs.

Work cross-departmentally to establish standard processes for club social content.

Manage programming around key events like MLS All-Star, Decision Day, and MLS Cup, ensuring organizational objectives are met.

Leverage players, partners, influencers, and celebrities in collaboration with enterprise strategies to achieve overall metrics.

Additional Responsibilities

Manage employees and freelancers as assigned.

Perform any other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Education and Experience

Bachelor’s Degree

At least 5 years of experience in Social Media, Marketing, or Communications

Required Skills

Innovative mindset and creative spirit

Willingness to travel and work non-traditional hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays

Experience managing social media platforms like Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, TikTok for corporate or league accounts, especially in soccer or sports contexts

Knowledge of soccer, MLS clubs, US Men’s National Team, and Canada Men’s National Team

Strong understanding of social media trends and best practices

Proficiency in Excel, PowerPoint, Adobe Creative Suite, or similar editing platforms

Meticulous organization skills with ability to multitask and meet deadlines

Passion for engaging fans through digital content

Excellent project management and communication skills

Desired Skills

Proficiency in Spanish (business level)

Graphic design and Photoshop skills

Deep knowledge of soccer

MLS offers a competitive salary starting at $75,000 to $85,000, along with comprehensive benefits including medical, dental, vision, wellness reimbursement, and generous PTO. Employees are expected to work from an MLS office at least four days a week, with flexibility for remote work on Fridays and up to two additional flex days per month.
