Caf Cashier Position
Dixie Technical College seeks a friendly, detail-oriented Caf Cashier to handle transactions, assist with food prep, and provide excellent customer service. An accountable Cashier processes all cash and credit transactions accurately and efficiently in accordance with established College policies and procedures. The duties and responsibilities of the cashier include greeting customers when entering or leaving the Caf, ringing up sales, collecting payment, maintaining a clean and tidy checkout area and dining room, and keeping reports of cash and credit transactions. Attention to detail, a sense of urgency, and the ability to work well under pressure are essential for success in this role. The hours needed are generally from 10 : 00 a.m. to 2 : 00 p.m., Monday through Thursday. The position pays $15-17 per hour, depending on experience.
Required Duties and Responsibilities :
- Assist chefs with preparing meals for the Cafe
- Handle cash transactions with customers using cash registers
- Scan goods and collect payments
- Issue receipts, refunds, change, or tickets
- Redeem stamps and coupons
- Make sales referrals, cross-sell products, and introduce new ones
- Resolve customer complaints, guide them, and provide relevant information
- Greet customers when entering or leaving establishments
- Maintain clean and tidy checkout areas
- Keep records of transactions
- Bag, box, or wrap packages
- Stock items
- Pleasantly deal with customers to ensure high satisfaction
- Assist other caf staff in cleanup, dishes, and next-day preparations
- Adherence to all Dixie Tech Policies and Procedures
- Other duties as assigned
Requirements and Qualifications :
Proven working experience in retail cashier or sales preferredBasic familiarity with electronic equipment (e.g., cash register, scanners, money counters, etc.)Strong communication and time management skillsCustomer satisfaction-orientedAttention to detail and mathematical skillsSales skillsWhile performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear. This position is very active and requires standing, walking, bending, kneeling, stooping, and crouching. The employee must occasionally lift and / or move items over 50 pounds.
