Job description

Adelphi is seeking a qualified professional to provide Visual Impairment Services to students, ensuring they receive appropriate support for their educational needs at a school in Mission, Texas. The ideal candidate will have the skills to support students with visual impairments, assisting them in reaching their full academic potential.

Requirements :

  • Master's degree and a valid Texas Education Agency certification for a Teacher of Students with Visual Impairments (TVI).
  • Proven experience working with K-12 students in a public-school setting.
  • Ability to communicate in English and Spanish is preferred.
  • Responsibilities :

  • Provide specialized instruction and support for students with visual impairments, ensuring it aligns with their IEPs.
  • Adapt instructional materials to meet the needs of students with visual impairments, including Braille and tactile materials.
  • Provide assistive technology recommendations and training for students and staff.
  • Collaborate with other school staff to ensure integration of visual impairment support across the curriculum.
  • Attend ARD meetings to update IEPs, evaluate progress, and make recommendations.
  • Maintain accurate records of services provided, including therapy logs, progress reports, and evaluations.
  • Assist with the selection and use of specialized equipment and technology.
  • Provide direct and indirect support for students as they integrate into the general education setting.
  • Complete SHARS billing for each student, if applicable.
  • Ensure that all services comply with local, state, and federal regulations governing special education.
  • Any other duties as assigned.
