Michaels Store Event Coordinator

Plan, coordinate, and facilitate events within a Michaels store to provide a stress-free, fun, and engaging experience for guests. Deliver friendly customer service by helping customers shop at our store and find what they're looking for. Ensure all customers receive a fast and friendly checkout experience. Complete operational tasks including truck unload, merchandise duties, and maintaining store recovery standards as needed to deliver our Brand Promises.

Event Coordination

Plan and coordinate multiple events at once including children's birthday parties and other craft classes or events. Engage with clients of all ages, from 4 to 94+, by creating an environment of fun and creativity. Demonstrate and instruct party participants in the completion of craft projects, perform face painting and other activities. Facilitate and implement party add-ons such as goody bags, balloons, etc. to company standards. Communicate events with clients and store team members. Complete administrative tasks such as answering emails, making phone calls, and completing paperwork as needed. Adjust plans and events based on client's feedback and needs. Create backup or emergency plans to be executed as needed. Ensure client satisfaction for scheduled events. Uphold the company's cleanliness and safety standards. Set up, break down, and clean before and after each event.

Customer Experience

Help customers shop, locate products, and provide them with solutions. Provide fast and friendly check out experience. Engage customers on benefits of Rewards program and Private Label Credit Cards and complete enrollments. Educate customer on Voice of Customer (VOC) survey. Assist with Omni channel processes, including Buy Online Pickup in Store (BOPIS) and Ship From Store (SFS). Participate in the truck un-load, stocking and planogram (POGs) processes. Complete merchandise recovery and maintenance. Perform Store in Stock Optimization (SISO) and AD set duties as assigned. Support shrink and safety programs. Adhere to Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and Company programs to ensure compliance with applicable laws and requirements; execute Company policies and standards. Interact with others in an accepting and respectful manner; remain positive and respectful, even in difficult situations; promote commitment to the organization's vision and values; project a positive image and serve as a role model for other Team Members. Cross trained in Custom Framing selling and production. Participate in daily store cleanliness activities including (but not limited to) sweeping, vacuuming, dusting, and maintaining cleanliness of restrooms.

Energetic and enthusiastic personality. Ability to handle job stress and interact effectively with others, including guests of all ages and co-workers, are essential functions of the job. Must have excellent people skills. Must have experience working with children and children's events. Must have good communication skills including written, verbal, and nonverbal communication as well as listening skills. Must have organizational skills, interpersonal skills, and creative problem-solving skills. Retail and / or customer service experience required.

Physical Requirements

Ability to remain standing for long periods of time. Ability to move throughout the store. Regular bending, lifting, carrying, reaching, and stretching. Lifting heavy boxes and accessing high shelves by ladder or similar equipment. Public retail store setting taking care of our customers; all public areas are climate controlled; some stock rooms may not be climate controlled; some outdoor work if assigned to retrieve shopping carts or while unloading trucks; Frame shop contains glass cutter and heat press; work hours include nights, weekends, and early mornings.
