surgical tech apprentice

SUMMARY :

Provides hands-on experience and training while actively enrolled and participating in an accredited surgical technologist program. Supports the operating room and sterile processing while developing the knowledge and skills necessary to transition into a surgical technologist position upon program completion.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES IN STERILE PROCESSING :

• Learn and adhere to sterile techniques and infection control protocols.
• Assemble and wrap smaller instrument sets and singles.
• Assemble basic general instrument sets.
• Organize Rigid containers for washing and use.
• Remove contaminated cases from elevator.
• Perform routine tasks such as stocking supplies and maintaining operating room organization.
• Participate in on-the-job training sessions and educational activities to enhance knowledge of surgical instrumentation and equipment.
• Exhibits ability to multitask.
• Consistently provides service excellence to all patients, family members, visitors, volunteers, and co-workers.
• Performs other work-related duties and activities as assigned or requested by his / her supervisor.
