At BWXT, we are committed to delivering innovative nuclear solutions that contribute to a better world. As a trusted leader in nuclear operations, we are expanding into the enrichment sector and are actively seeking visionary leaders to help shape the future of nuclear energy in the United States.

The ideal candidate will bring deep nuclear operations experience, a proven track record of leading licensing efforts for complex nuclear systems and facilities, and hands-on knowledge of ASME NQA-1, NRC / DOE requirements, and nuclear fuel cycle operations.

This is a critical leadership role reporting to the Vice President of Enrichment. The Director of EHS will be responsible for building and overseeing the organization's EHS programs from the ground up, ensuring operational readiness, regulatory success, and a deeply embedded culture of safety and accountability.

  • Lead licensing efforts for the startup and commercial operation of the enrichment facility, including environmental reviews, safety analysis, emergency preparedness, and NRC engagement.
  • Direct all licensing activities including interface with NRC, DOE, DOD, and other regulatory agencies.
  • Manage pre-application strategy, license application submittals, and implementation of regulatory commitments.
  • Oversee Integrated Safety Analysis (ISA), criticality safety evaluations, fire protection plans, and materials control.
  • Establish, implement, and oversee a rigorous EHS program consistent with NRC and DOE expectations.
  • Lead development of operational and safety procedures, causal analysis, hazard evaluation, and incident response planning.
  • Guide the creation of a site-wide safety culture focused on continuous improvement and operational integrity.
  • Establish and maintain ASME NQA-1 compliant QA programs for procurement, construction, and operations.
  • Serve as senior authority on implementation of NQA-1, Part 50 Appendix B, and configuration management systems.
  • Lead readiness reviews, audits, and independent assessments for regulatory and operational excellence.
  • Build and lead high-performing teams across EHS, licensing, safeguards, fire protection, and quality assurance.
  • Provide mentorship and guidance to technical staff, and represent EHS on the executive leadership team.

  • Deep expertise in NRC regulations (10 CFR Part 70, 50, 52), NEPA, ISA, and NQA-1 quality program development and oversight.
  • Demonstrated leadership in cross-functional teams including safety analysis, fire protection, configuration management, and procurement QA.
  • Exceptional track record interfacing with NRC, DOE, DOD, and congressional stakeholders on regulatory and licensing matters.
  • Strong technical writing, policy development, and procedure design capabilities.
  • U.S. citizenship with no dual citizenship.
