POSITION SUMMARY : The Server at one of Oxford’s luxury or boutique-style hotels is responsible for delivering exceptional customer service and creating a memorable dining experience for guests. This position is responsible for taking guest orders, serving food and beverages, processing payments, and ensuring guest satisfaction throughout their dining experience is one of luxury. Additionally, the Server upholds sanitation and cleanliness standards, ensuring a safe and welcoming environment for all guests. The server plays a key role in striving to meet and exceed Four-Star service standards delivering high-quality service and amenities with strong attention to detail, ensuring excellence in every guest interaction, and consistently exceeding expectations.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES : All duties and responsibilities of this position are to be performed with exceptional caring and genuine guest service upholding the Oxford Collection of hotels standards and culture at all times.
Food and Beverage Service (70% ) :
- Provide exceptional service by anticipating and responding to guests’ needs, ensuring a seamless and enjoyable dining experience in both restaurant and banquet settings in a manner that strives to meet and exceed Forbes Four-Star standards
- Greet guests, offer expert- level menu recommendations, and answer inquiries about food, beverages, daily specials, and dietary accommodations
- Accurately take and input orders into the POS system, ensuring special requests, allergies, and dietary needs are properly communicated to the culinary team
- Retrieve and serve food and beverages promptly, verifying presentation, temperature, and portion accuracy before delivery
- Monitor guest satisfaction throughout the meal, proactively addressing concerns and fulfilling additional requests
- Assist in maintaining service stations, ensuring they are stocked with silverware, glassware, condiments, and necessary supplies for both restaurant and banquet service
- Support banquet events, assisting with setup, service, and breakdown to ensure smooth and efficient execution
- Follow sanitation, cleanliness, and food safety standards, keeping a well-organized and hygienic workspace while ensuring compliance with alcohol service policies
Perform all tasks in compliance with federal, state, local, food safety and sanitation requirements and Oxford Collection of hotels safety standards and security procedures. Be knowledgeable about and able to respond to emergency situations. Report any maintenance repairs needed immediately to their supervisor or General Manager.
Guest Relations (20%) :
Warmly welcome guests, ensuring requests are handled promptly, professionally, and efficientlyHandle guest complaints, requests, and concerns with professionalism and discretion, using the Oxford Collection guest recovery, and service gestures consistent with Forbes service standardsCommunicate clearly and effectively with both guests and kitchen staffActively listen, clarify concerns, and resolve issues to ensure guest satisfactionAssist with guest recovery efforts in the absence of a manager or supervisorMaintain integrity, confidentiality, and sensitivity in all guest and team interactionsOther (10%) :
Communicate effectively with all hotel staff to ensure smooth delivery of servicesComplete a daily activity log with pertinent shift information for co-workers and leadership teamObtain sales leads for the sales departmentAdhere to attendance policies and maintain regular availability for scheduled shiftsOther Hotel related duties as assignedAdditional tasks may be assigned, modified or changed as no employee has any inherent right to any particular job or authority.
