Under the direct supervision of the Staff Accountants / Senior Accountants, this position provides support with the basic duties and responsibilities of an Intern, as noted below.
- Duration : 90-Day Internship Program
Extension of the internship is possible for an additional 3 months (maximum 6 month combined)
Education : At a minimum, a senior or recent graduate via an Accounting Bachelor's degree program from an accredited university in the United StatesLanguage : Chinese / Mandarin preferredLocation : 133-10 39th Avenue, Flushing NY 11354.Pay / Salary : Paid full-time internship ($15 / hr)Key Responsibilities
Prepare Finalized Reports (inclusive of financial statements and other working papers), as-neededCoordinate scheduling and a variety of communications with clientsAssist with and learn how to prepare various tax returns for federal, state, and local entitiesAssist with the preparation of tax extensions, notices, and examinations / research for clientsAssist with the review process of completed reports (formatting inconsistencies, templates, overall content, etc.)Assist with planning and performing financial and compliance audits in accordance with the appropriateGain exposure to various accounting / tax preparation and filing softwareShadow other staff / senior accountants to gain understanding and further exposure to a tax accountant's responsibilitiesOther jobs / duties, including administrative responsibilities, assigned by the tax Staff teamTerms of this Internship
This is a paid hourly internship ($15 / hour)Duration will be for approximately 90 days and will be from Monday-Friday (approx. 35-40 hours per week)An extension of the internship for an additional 3 months is possible.

Gain insight into professionalism within a CPA firm and working with clients (through the shadow program)Develop an understanding of the various software the firm (and other firms in the industry) uses.Gain a further understanding of the tax preparation and filing cycleLearn the process of documenting tax-related work performed throughout, and upon completion and wrap-up phase of the tax filing.Develop a skill set for gathering questions and asking appropriate personnel for assistance.Develop skills required to interact with other professionals at varying levels for example partners, managers, senior associates, staff, and office staff.Understand how a firm trains its personnel and how training enhances work requirements.
