The Overland Park team is currently in search of a Senior Mechanical Engineer to join a well-established engineering and construction firm supporting large-scale industrial and process projects. This opportunity is ideal for a technically driven professional who enjoys leading complex mechanical design from concept through construction.
Role Overview
You will lead the full mechanical design scope for industrial facilities, managing technical details, schedules, and quality from start to finish. This role requires both hands-on design expertise and the ability to coordinate across multiple disciplines.
Key Responsibilities
- Drive the design and implementation of mechanical and process systems including piping, pressure vessels, and rotating equipment
- Prepare and review P&IDs, flow diagrams, and detailed mechanical documentation
- Perform calculations and ensure designs meet ASME, API, and applicable mechanical standards
- Specify pumps, compressors, heat exchangers, and process equipment for safe, efficient operation
- Collaborate with civil, electrical, and structural teams to align technical and project goals
- Contribute to cost estimates, proposals, and overall project planning
- Review vendor drawings and submittals, manage RFIs, and support field execution
- Mentor and guide junior engineers and designers to elevate team performance
Qualifications and Experience
Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering (PE license preferred or in progress)Eight or more years of mechanical design experience in industrial or process settingsStrong technical foundation in piping systems, rotating equipment, and mechanical integrationProven ability to manage concurrent projects while maintaining accuracy and attention to detailBackground in manufacturing, energy, food processing, or chemical projects preferredThe Opportunity
