Lead Capital Markets Accountant
Wells Fargo is seeking a Lead Capital Markets Accountant to support the Investment Banking and Capital Markets Group Controller team. This role requires technical knowledge, oversight, and accounting support for various highly complex trading desks within the Fixed Income Currencies and Commodities (FICC) line of business. In addition, this role will have accounting support responsibilities for the institutional Broker-Dealer of the consolidated organization, Wells Fargo Securities, LLC, as well as other various consolidated subsidiaries of the Company. The team is in process of increasing its technical accounting depth and bandwidth associated with significant growth in corporate initiatives. This role will be instrumental in the success of those initiatives.
In this role you will :
- Act as a lead accountant for financial accounting related matters for lines of business and other control functions
- Provide technical expertise regarding accounting issues, regulatory information and research, major transactions, product development and policy changes with the ability to influence management and business partners
- Coordinate with peer LOB support leads for the implementation of complex projects or initiatives impacting multiple lines of business or across the enterprise
- Perform ad hoc accounting-related inquiry and research in support for the LOB
- Perform variance analytics over significant fluctuations in ledger, including data subject to external disclosure, to ensure sound financial accounting and reporting.
- Serve as primary in-charge over complex problem resolution and accurate timely review of work and approvals
- Prepare and / or review various judgmental SEC and Regulatory Reporting submissions to ensure the completeness and accuracy of material Financial Statements and footnote disclosures for consistency with applicable guidance
- Prepare various financial close recalculations / validations, including the general ledger recognition of certain financial attributes, to support an accurate and timely close
- Communicate and adhere to practices and procedures for proper financial control functions in accordance with the company's internal controls policies
This position will require onsite presence in a hybrid arrangement in Charlotte, NC. Relocation is not available for this position.
Required Qualifications :
5+ years of Finance, Accounting, Analytics, Financial Reporting, Accounting Reporting or Risk Reporting experience, or equivalent demonstrated through one or a combination of the following : work experience, training, military experience, educationDesired Qualifications :
Experience performing technical accounting research and analysis including GAAP / SEC / REGLead, organize, and manage multiple concurrent projects from the beginning through the end that will require coordinated efforts with multiple functions (i.e. Legal, Operations, Front-Office, Finance, Corporate Accounting, etc.)Knowledge of and understanding of the financial services industry, including traded products, loans, and derivativesAbility to compile and review financial statements including the monthly, quarterly, and annual data sets used in various legal entitiesAdvanced Microsoft Office skills, specifically Excel, as well as other analytical or automation tools (i.e. Alteryx, Axiom, Power BI, Tableau, Tachyon, and MS 365 CoPilot).Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communications skills with a history of success within a large matrixed organizationWe Value Equal Opportunity
