Job Summary

This position will take on the responsibilities of a full range of Substation construction and maintenance work on electrical distribution and transmission substations. This position works inside energized and de-energized substations. This position requires a Class A CDL license with HAZMAT endorsement within 6 months of hiring. Planned and unplanned overtime work will be required. The majority of the work is performed outdoors in all types of weather conditions and is considered "heavy labor" which is not limited to but includes the following :

• Climb steel structures and work off ladders and aerial lifts.
• NERC requirements.
• Drive and / or operate vehicles for long distances.
• Operate heavy equipment to construct and maintain distribution and transmission substations.
• Working with mineral oils, paints, compressed gases i.e. air, nitrogen, SF-6 etc. battery acids, PCB's, solvents, explosives, pumps, etc.

The selected candidate must be able to obtain a Class A CDL learner's permit within 1 month of employment and a CDL with Dominion training within 6 months of employment.

Working Conditions Include :

This is a Local 50 union represented position with a starting pay rate of $24.61 per hour.

Test Description

This job requires "recommended" test results from Modern Hire Electrician Virtual Job Tryout administered online. The assessment is untimed, but usually takes about 45 minutes to complete.
