Position Summary : Sets up exams, procedures and tests for patients; handles customer service inquiries. Ensures the smooth operation by obtaining accurate and complete patient and insurance information. Essential Functions and Responsibilities as Assigned :
- Deliver quality customer service by answering incoming phone calls or contacting patients by phone to determine appropriate exam / test / procedure and schedule patient appropriately.
- Review screening form and obtain / verify patient and insurance information to ensure accuracy and completeness.
- Ensure best possible customer service by properly educating the patient on the exam / test / procedure preparation and answering related questions.
- Update patient record, including any notes necessary for the technologist, customer, or future reference.
- Follows site-specific protocols and keeps protocol documentation up-to-date to ensure compliance.
- Obtains proper approval for schedule changes or cancellations as appropriate.
- Maintain total confidentiality of personal and financial data.
- Act in a courteous manner and maintain composure even when dealing with angry or irritated patients.
- Other clerical duties may include maintaining databases, faxing and scanning patient histories, answering phones, and updating patient account information.
- Performs other related duties as required and directed.
Qualifications :
Required : High School Diploma or GED. Preferred : Prior scheduling experience. Two years of experience, preferably in health care.
