POSITION SCOPE AND ORGANIZATIONAL IMPACT

Moss' Solar Project Engineer / Senior Project Engineer, Construction Design will work in concert with the Engineering Services team using design tools to bridge the gap across different disciplines to ensure the success of the construction teams, that all digital files and drawings are aligned across different disciplines. Cross-functional problem-solving is a key component of the everyday responsibilities of this role. Additionally, this position will be responsible for reviewing drawings from multiple engineers to ensure constructability, along with other digital design files.

ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Be familiar with utility-scale solar project designs, including single-line drawings, civil, structural, electrical site plans, DC and AC wiring diagrams, and equipment layout.

Understand Civil and Structural engineering design drawings as applicable to design implications.

Ability to design different parts of a BESS or Solar PV power plant in 3D modeling software.

Understand the construction applications of solar power plant design, including PV string sizing, DC and AC conductor and conduit sizing, and racking / tracker design and powering.

Have direct and relevant experience with the latest solar and battery storage equipment, including solar panels, inverters / transformers, racking systems, and battery systems.

Ability to review the scope of work documents and analyze the design implications of different requirements.

Own portions of the project lifecycle - from design to construction support

Provide mentorship and support to junior team members on the Engineering Team.

Comfortable traveling across the country to perform site visits and provide technical support to construction teams.

Support field teams with various technical design requests.

Must be capable of working as part of a team, with strong communication skills to ensure documentation and problem resolution.

Perform other duties as assigned.

EDUCATION AND WORK EXPERIENCE

Bachelor's degree in engineering, technical field, or related discipline is required - a civil and environmental engineering degree is preferred.

0-1+ years' experience for Project Engineer and 2+ years' experience for Senior Project Engineer in the solar construction industry or direct engineering management on solar construction projects - solar experience is required.

Knowledge of electrical design, materials, and methods of construction in power systems.

Proven ability to work across multiple systems and manage design documentation.

Familiarity with CAD workflows and construction standards.

Knowledge of AutoCAD Civil 3D.

Knowledge of QGIS or other GIS software is a plus.

Knowledge of Autodesk Fusion or other 3D Design software is a plus

Thorough knowledge of the National Electrical Code (NEC) and the National Electrical Safety Code (NESC) as it relates to utility-scale power plants is a plus.

Good communication and presentation skills, including the ability to organize and present complex technical information effectively in Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.

Highly organized and able to multitask multiple projects at once.
