Under the general direction of the Deputy Executive Director, the Administrative Assistant II (AA II) will learn the Executive Office's (EO) areas of authority, responsibility, and policy to best support activities and perform a variety of administrative duties and functions. This position requires sensitivity to confidential matters; independent action, analysis, and initiative; and an ability to work well with diverse personalities at high levels of public and private organizations. This position will be responsible for managing complex scheduling and travel arrangements, as well as developing and maintaining office procedures and protocols. This position will act as the primary communication point for meeting requests for the EO and represents the office when the Executive Director and Deputy Executive Director are unavailable. The position responds to calls and inquiries from the public which may include controversial issues. This position will also serve as the personnel liaison for EO and commissioner's offices performing duties such as timekeeping and managing Requests for Personnel Actions (RPA). Responsibilities also include serving as the office administrative, space and equipment coordinator.

The CEC supports a hybrid workplace model with office-based and remote-centered workers. Limited in-person attendance and occasional travel may be required based on the needs of the division. Regular and consistent attendance is essential to successful performance. This position is remote-centered, which means the incumbent works 50 percent or more of their time from an alternate work location.

Teleworking is only available for employees who reside in California. You must be located in California and provide your in-state address prior to your start date. Regular and consistent attendance is essential to successful performance. Occasional travel may be required based on the needs of the division.

Today, the CEC is the state's primary energy policy and planning agency and is leading the state to a 100% clean energy future. The California Energy Commission seeks an Administrative Assistant II in the Executive Office.
