Description :

The CT Technologist, under general supervision of a Radiologist, performs computed tomography (CT) procedures on ambulatory and hospital patients as requested by a physician or other licensed provider for the diagnosis of disease and injury in accordance with established protocols.

Performs high-quality CT procedures according to exam protocol in a timely manner.

Maintains production and quality of imaging procedures by following established standards and procedures.

Demonstrates an understanding of radiation dose reference levels and radiation dose monitoring.

Takes actions if the estimated dose exceeds set dose reference levels, which may include patient follow-up.

Demonstrates and understands proper use of point-of-care testing for obtaining creatinine levels.

Utilizes effective communication techniques to identify patient service requirements and ensure the correct exam is performed on the correct patient.

Establishes rapport with patients and their families, instructing and communicating regarding the test to be performed.

Prepares patients and areas for procedures by positioning patients, adjusting immobilization devices, and moving equipment into specified positions.

Adjusts equipment controls to set exposure factors.

Protects patients and employees by adhering to safety requirements, infection control, drug, and radiation policies.

Uses proper sterile techniques when setting up and performing invasive procedures while maintaining hand hygiene.

Maintains equipment and work area to meet quality and cleanliness standards.

Works with engineers and physicists to ensure optimal operational capabilities of equipment.

Reports issues to management or appropriate departments.

Assists in maintaining supplies inventory.

Ensures individuals are safe to enter the department by screening them according to approved policies and procedures.

Obtains, verifies, and maintains all relevant documentation such as patient history and shielding precautions taken.

Maintains medical imaging records in appropriate systems and according to department policies and standards in a timely manner.

Able to explain procedures and put patients at ease.

Provides services in a timely, accurate, and cost-efficient manner in compliance with established standards and policies.

Performs tasks independently without need for routine oversight.

Maintains a calm and helpful attitude, even under times of stress, and takes appropriate and reasonable steps to resolve issues.

Effectively administers first aid and uses emergency equipment as necessary.

Ensures customer satisfaction by limiting wait times and providing courteous service.

Demonstrates and maintains current knowledge and continued education appropriate for the care of various age groups.

Serves as a preceptor by providing quality training to new team members and on new services and initiatives.

Able to take call if required.
