Job description

Project Raise Program Specialist

The Project RAISE Program Specialist works collaboratively with administrators, faculty, staff, and students at California State University, Fullerton (CSUF) and partner community colleges to develop and coordinate educational support services, research opportunities, and internship opportunities for CSUF students interested in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) majors and fields. The Program Specialist will support the RAISE Transfer Program, research activities at CSUF, outreach activities, and student staff development. The program has a focus on development of STEM transfer students. The grant is funded through 2028, contingent on satisfactory performance to meet goals. Program website : www.fullerton.edu / raise

  • Please be aware that funding for this position is awarded through a Grant / Contract over a specified period. Employment for this position beyond the current Grant / Contract funding is contingent upon continued funding.

Essential Duties

  • Support research activities at CSUF, including summer and academic year programming.
  • Develop marketing materials and strategies to assist program activities, including outreach to students, faculty, and staff at CSUF, website management, and social media management.
  • Support outreach efforts at partner community colleges designed to familiarize students with educational, transfer, and career opportunities in the STEM disciplines.
  • Support RAISE Transfer Program, including orientations, workshops, and events.
  • Support student staff development through trainings and weekly meetings, in effective presentation skill development, refining outreach activities, interpersonal communication skills, and understanding campus resources for appropriate referrals.
  • Collaborate with Peer Advisors to create engaging programming, workshops, promotional content, bulletin boards, and outreach communications.
  • Oversee Transfer Resource Center, including student staff and programming.
  • Assist with data collection and monitoring of performance outcomes.
  • Work in both teams and individually to complete projects.
  • Member of the Project RAISE advisory board.
  • Other duties as assigned.
  • ACCOUNTABILITY : Performance will be evaluated on the demonstration of skills in areas such as communication, supervision, and administrative responsibilities. Performance will also be evaluated on the achievement of specific goals and performance of job functions as described in the grant.

    Qualifications

  • Knowledge of and experience with the issues of diverse student populations, particularly first generation, Hispanic / Latinx, and low-income college students and transfer students.
  • Experience working with college students.
  • Basic computer skills including Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, Microsoft PowerPoint, Microsoft Outlook, Google Suite, Zoom, Dropbox, Canva, social media, and student information systems.
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple responsibilities.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills that demonstrate correct grammar usage, syntax, editing and format, with the ability to communicate clearly and effectively to a diverse group of people. Proven ability to understand and interpret materials and data and to formulate and present oral and written material in a logical and comprehensive manner.
  • Ability to interact, communicate verbally and in writing, and develop effective presentations in dealing with higher education faculty and administrators, project participants, parents, and community members.
  • Ability to perform demands of tasks in a fast-paced environment.
  • PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS :

  • Two years of increasingly responsible project coordination experience in higher education.
  • Experience in planning and implementing college level programs.
  • General understanding of research and transfer processes.
  • EDUCATION : Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution required. Master's degree is strongly preferred.
