Job Title : Host / Hostess
Summary : As a host / hostess, you will provide guests with a friendly greeting and will seat them promptly. You will also assist servers and provide customer support via the telephone.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities :
- Greet and seat guests
- Provide guests with menus and tableware, if needed
- Maintain a waiting list for seating
- Answer the telephone and accept reservations
- Let customers know about restaurant specialties and promotions
- Coordinate servers and bussers to ensure customers receive the highest level of service possible
- Assist servers with their responsibilities as necessary
- Additional responsibilities as assigned or requested by management
Qualifications :
- Knowledge of or experience with providing customer service, specifically in the hospitality industry
- Excellent speaking and listening skills
- A friendly, warm, and outgoing personality
- Ability to stand for long periods of time
- Excellent organization and time management skills
- Be able to monitor the environment for signs of problems that need to be addressed (i. e. tables needing to be cleaned, intoxicated patrons, etc.)
Work Environment
The host / hostess will working in the front of the restaurant near the entrance in a full-service
restaurant. They are expected to feel comfortable communicating and working with a diverse group of customers and co-workers.
