SUMMARY
The primary purpose of the Director of Nursing position is to plan, organize, develop and direct the overall operation of our Nursing Department in accordance with current federal, state, and local standards, guidelines, and regulations that govern our facility, and as may be directed by the Administrator and the Medical Director, to ensure that the highest degree of quality care is maintained at all times.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Plan, develop, organize, implement, evaluate, and direct the nursing service department and its programs in accordance with current rules and regulations.
Develop and update written policies and procedures that govern daily nursing functions.
Make written and oral reports to the Administrator as necessary regarding nursing operations.
Coordinate nursing services with other departments to ensure continuity of resident care.
Maintain an ongoing quality assurance program and assist in developing corrective action plans.
Ensure adequate and qualified nursing staff are scheduled for each shift.
Conduct regular rounds to monitor care delivery and compliance.
Participate in employee evaluations and disciplinary actions in coordination with HR.
Oversee infection control, staff training, and compliance with safety standards.
Monitor medication passes and treatments for accuracy and timeliness.
Support MDS / Care Plan development and encourage family participation in care planning.
Maintain resident confidentiality and report any suspected fraud or HIPAA violations.
QUALIFICATIONS
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and / or ability required.
Registered Nurse with current unencumbered state license.
Must have, as a minimum, 3 years of experience as a supervisor in a hospital, nursing care facility, or other related health care facility.
Current CPR Certification is required.
Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
Knowledgeable in state and federal long-term care regulations.
Ability to lead by example and foster teamwork across departments.
Must be able to read, write, and speak English fluently.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS

Must be able to move intermittently throughout the workday. Must be able to cope with the mental and emotional stress of the position.
Must meet the general health requirements set forth by the policies of the facility, which include a medical and physical examination.
Must be able to push, pull, move, and / or lift a minimum of 25 lbs. to a minimum height of 5 feet and be able to push, pull, move and / or carry such weight a minimum distance of 50 feet.
May be necessary to assist in the evacuation of residents during emergency situations.
