Lehigh Valley Companion Care Homes is seeking a detail-oriented and proactive HR Specialist to support our growing team. The HR Specialist plays a key role in ensuring smooth and compliant human resources operations across all LVCCH programs.
The HR Specialist supports the Human Resources Department in executing daily HR functions across all LVCCH programs. This role focuses on staff development, compliance, and workforce support, ensuring that all employees meet training, credentialing, and performance standards set by the Pennsylvania Office of Developmental Programs (ODP) and company policy. The HR Specialist collaborates closely with the Administrator to oversee recruitment, onboarding, credential verification, payroll coordination, and employee engagement, while maintaining a positive and compliant workplace culture.
Key Responsibilities :
1 . Recruitment and Onboarding
- Coordinate the full recruitment cycle : posting jobs, screening candidates, and scheduling and conducting interviews.
- Conduct new-hire orientations and ensure completion of ODP / DPW-required documents (I-9, clearances, TB, Physical and other credentials).
- With the help of the Administrator, set up personnel files in both digital and physical systems, ensuring full compliance with ODP standards.
- Update and maintain job descriptions and organizational charts.
- Support hiring managers in ensuring staffing ratios and program coverage.
2. Credentialing and Compliance
Monitor all employee credentials, licenses, and certifications to ensure timely renewals.Track and document staff training requirements, including Mandatory ODP training, NADSP, RBT, UKERU, CPR / First Aid, Medication Administration, FLS, and annual refreshers.Prepare monthly compliance reports for internal management and state reviews.Support ODP audits by compiling and presenting required HR documentation.3. Employee Relations and Development
Serve as a point of contact for staff HR questions and concerns, escalating complex issues as needed.Assist supervisors in documenting disciplinary actions and performance evaluations.Support employee recognition, engagement, and retention initiatives (e.g., incentive programs).Promote professional growth through training, mentorship, and continuing education support.4. Payroll and Benefits Support
Assist with payroll preparation, timesheet reconciliation, and PTO tracking.Coordinate employee benefits enrollment and respond to benefits-related inquiries.Update HR and payroll systems to reflect new hires, terminations, and pay changes.Maintain confidentiality and ensure accuracy in all payroll-related communications.5. Policy and Systems Management
Assist in reviewing and updating HR policies, forms, and procedures.Maintain HR databases, ensuring accuracy of staff rosters and training logs.Provide support in system integration (e.g., ADP Workforce Now).Generate HR analytics and dashboards for management review (turnover, training, compliance rates).Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in human resources, Business Administration, or related field (or equivalent experience).Minimum 2–3 years of HR experience, preferably in Healthcare, Human services, or Behavioral Health.Knowledge of ODP / DPW regulations, credentialing, and compliance processes.Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.Proficiency with Microsoft Office, Google Workspace, Relias and APD Workforce Now platforms.Ability to handle confidential and sensitive information appropriately.Preferred Skills
Experience with Pennsylvania ODP systems (HCSIS, PROMISE).Bilingual (English / Spanish) a plus.Experience in training coordination or staff development programs.Why Join LVCCH :
