Job descriptionReviews referral packets for determination of qualification. Acts as consultant to the SST committee and aides in the development of classroom modifications as requested. Schedules evaluations and testing. Prepares psychological reports in accordance with guidelines from the State Department of Education. Translates test results and conclusions verbally to parents, teachers, and administrators. Demonstrates a working knowledge of all state regulations pertaining to Special Education eligibility and placement. Conducts in-service with teachers and / or parents as requested by the schools to meet the needs of a particular school or grade level. Participates in in-service and staff development activities. Aids in maintenance of the Policy and Procedures Manual in use by Liberty County special education personnel. Updates forms as needed or changes to meet new regulations or teacher needs. Maintains a file of all students placed to ensure that the mandatory three-year-evaluation is done on time. The file is updated yearly. Maintains a friendly and professional working relationship with all school personnel and parents in order to ensure good cooperation in the delivery of Special Education services. Stays abreast of changes in laws and regulations affecting the area of expertise. Conducts surrogate parent training with foster parents. Completes the Interim referral packet for students entering Liberty County Schools. Acts as a liaison between Liberty County and other school districts for students in special education. Attends IEP placement committee meetings. Performs such other tasks and assumes other responsibilities assigned by the supervisor or Superintendent.
190 day position
QUALIFICATIONS :
- Valid Professional Georgia Certificate in School Psychology (Minimum T-6).
- Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Superintendent may find appropriate and acceptable.
