Responsibilities University Behavioral Center, a subsidiary of Universal Health Services, Inc. (UHS), is committed to providing intensive mental health services to children, adolescents and adults as well as detox and substance abuse programs for adults. Our mental health facility provides safe and effective inpatient treatment to assist individuals in leading more productive and fulfilling lives. The facility is located on a beautiful -acre campus in Orlando, Florida, and includes licensed beds. We are currently seeking qualified professionals with active/clear license in the state of Florida. Previous experience in a psychiatric facility or rehabilitation program is required.
POSITION SUMMARY:
The Program Therapist performs social services functions to include assisting patients in meeting their biopsychosocial needs while enabling them to access, through therapeutic treatment skills to achieve their optimal level of emotional health, including providing basic consultation, teaching, complete specialized clinical social work services for individuals/families receiving care, crisis intervention, short-term and long-term family therapy, group therapy, providing information and referrals as needed, and individual therapy when ordered by a MD. Provides variety of psychotherapeutic services, group, family, individual to individuals in psychiatric hospital setting, presenting with co-occurring disorders, psychiatric disorders, substance abuse disorders and other behavioral disorders. Provides social services, including, but not limited to discharge planning.

Job Duties/Responsibilities
- Biopsychosocial assessments
- Establishing a treatment plan
- Collateral contacts with family/support network
- Patient and family education on diagnosis and resources
- Support and Adovcacy of patient and family
- Coordination/liaison with community based resources on behalf of patients
- Active member of the multi-disciplinary inpatient treatment team

Qualifications Education/Training:
- Master’s Degree from accredited school in Social Work, or Mental Health Counseling, or Marriage and Family Therapy
- Two (2) years of experience working in a hospital or psychiatric counseling setting with adults and/or adolescents and their families
- CPR certification
Knowledge and Skills:
- Strong therapeutic skills and knowledge of therapeutic philosophies (group and individual treatment skills)
- Working knowledge of developmental stages
- Some minimal knowledge of community resources
- Ability to communicate effectively with varied ability to understand
- Strong assessment skills and ability to intervene in a variety of situations
