Affirmative Civil Enforcement (ACE) Investigator – Full-Time, Experienced – Department : Legal Services
CGS is seeking an experienced ACE Investigator with extensive knowledge of investigative techniques and fraud detection for a federal agency initiative. The role involves generating new investigations, conducting ongoing civil actions involving fraud in healthcare, contracting, grants, and other federal programs, and providing support to attorneys and agency personnel.
Responsibilities
- Generate new investigations and continue ongoing investigations and civil actions involving fraud.
- Meet regularly with ACE attorneys and designated agency personnel to generate fraud investigations.
- Perform ancillary investigative services and utilize electronic databases to identify documents, witnesses, and evidence.
- Prepare investigative reports for AUSAs and supervisory attorneys, including findings, analyses, and recommendations.
- Examine books, ledgers, payrolls, cost reports, billing statements, invoices, correspondence, and computer data related to the investigations.
- Conduct sophisticated analyses of large-scale hard-copy and electronic data (e.g., health care claims, financial transactions, accounting records).
- Gather and analyze facts, witness statements, timelines, and scientific or technical data to advance investigative objectives.
- Develop and analyze evidence, identifying patterns of operations and recommending investigative approaches.
- Assist with interviews, depositions, sworn witness examinations, and service of subpoenas.
- Develop an understanding of applicable federal, state, or local laws and determine proof required to establish responsibility.
- Assist with planning, scheduling, and conducting investigations, and identify required resources.
- Perform other related ACE investigator duties as assigned.
- Attend meetings and trainings as required.
Qualifications
Proficiency with MS Word, Excel, Outlook, Access, Adobe Acrobat Professional.Experience with document review / management platforms such as Relativity, analysis of claims data spreadsheets, and docketing software is a plus.Ability to review and understand a wide variety of documents, both legal and non-legal.Independent thinker capable of developing investigative strategies tailored to specific cases.Strong communication skills and the ability to work professionally with all staff levels.Ability to meet deadlines and work effectively as part of a team.Courteous and tactful interpersonal skills.Benefits
