Candidate Requirements:

• This role is ONLY open to US Citizens. Permanent Residents (Green Card Holders) and any other work authorizations are NOT permitted here as this role requires eligibility to obtain a secret clearance (a secret clearance is only open to US Citizens). Clearance isn’t required to start (but all candidates must be eligible to obtain one). Due to the nature of this role (working for a defense contractor tied to the federal government) – candidates may need to pass a drug screen (which would include cannabis). There would be no exceptions to this (eg: a medical card).

• This role is subject to U.S. government-mandated Anthropometric Standards Requirements (ASR) due to the physical constraints of working inside and around military combat vehicles such as the Abrams tank. Specifically, all candidates must:

o Weigh 260 lbs or less, including personal protective equipment (PPE) and clothing.

o Be 6'4" or shorter in height

Job Location:

Killeen, TX. This role will be based at Fort Cavazos (formerly Fort Hood).

Compensation:

This position pays a base rate of $26.38 per hour. In addition, we offer a Health & Wellness (H&W) benefit in accordance with government contracting standards. This allows employees to receive an additional $4.93 per hour in lieu of enrolling in our company-provided health insurance plan. Key details:

• If you decline our company-provided health insurance, you will receive the H&W pay of $4.93/hour.

• The H&W benefit becomes effective on the first day of the month after 30 days of employment – this is the same eligibility timeline as all other benefits.

• Once the H&W benefit kicks in, your effective hourly pay will be $31.31/hour ($26.38 base + $4.93 H&W) for all regular time hours (up to 40 hours per week).

• Overtime (hours over 40/week) is paid at 1.5x your base rate of $26.38/hour, which equals $39.57/hour.

Overview:

HRU Technical Resources is partnering with a leading defense contractor to hire Abrams Tank Mechanics. In this role, you will need to:

• Be an experienced maintenance mechanic, familiar with operation, maintenance and modification work orders (MWO) on the variations of the Abrams Tank (M1A1 SA, M1A2 SEP V2 and SEP V3) vehicles for the GDLS Ft. Cavazos team.

• Perform preventive maintenance checks and services and install MWO’s on variations of the Abrams Tanks (M1A1ED, M1A2SEP V2 and V3) .

• Read and interpret troubleshooting and diagnostic procedures and flow diagrams for systems, subsystems and components.

• Maintain accountability of special tools, test equipment and property.

• Perform other duties as assigned by leadership responsible for maintenance.

Requirements:

• High school diploma or GED required at a minimum. Higher level experience (Associate or Bachelor’s Degree) is welcome.

• Must have one (1) or more years of general mechanical maintenance experience, preferably on the Abrams Family of Tanks (we may consider diesel mechanics as well, but military experience is highly preferred).

• Must have basic knowledge of tools and test equipment required for military vehicle maintenance.

• Must be able to gain access to US Military facilities or bases; including a NACI clearance if required. Clearance requirement will require US Citizenship and the ability to pass a background check. Clearance isn’t required to start (but candidates must be eligible).

• Must be able to work effectively in a team-oriented structure in field and shop environment, both on and off military installations.

• Required to work at heights, lift and carry up to 50 pounds, able to climb, and work in extreme temperatures and weather conditions.

• Must have a valid State Driver's License and be able to obtain a tank driver’s license.

• Must meet the anthropometric requirements (ASR) to perform entry into the driver’s station or into an enclosed military vehicle.

• Must be able to travel as required to support GDLS Ft. Cavazos maintenance, fielding and retrofit activities for State-side GDLS requirements

• Must be able to successfully pass the Job Proficiency Certification for Abrams fleet vehicles.

• Be able to work autonomously with government personnel.

Work Environment:

• This is a 1st (day) shift role with occasional overtime as needed.
