Overview
Reporting to the Senior Manager, Construction Field Service, The Field Development Engineer will play a key role to Thermon's Heat Trace asset management and Sales with Genesis Network.
Genesis Network is the core to Thermon's Digitization initiative for heat trace systems. Genesis enables optimized use of plant assets and energy, saving significantly on operational costs.
Participates in the specification, quoting, detailed design, commissioning and support of communication and networked control systems in industrial, oil / gas processing, and refinery environments.
As part of a customer solutions team at Thermon, the position leads the group that designs and installs network equipment and supervisory control software for remotely monitoring control panels.
The successful candidate is experienced in designing and building data networking solutions in industrial plants and is knowledgeable of SCADA / DCS systems.
Key Responsibilities and Accountabilities include
- Collaborate and work side by side with sales organization, provide presentations to clients to promote Thermon's control systems (Genesis Network, TraceNet Command), emphasizing in facility installations and systems upgrades.
- Provide training and troubleshooting guidance to Thermon's field service technicians and clients on of Thermon controllers and 3rd party communications devices (up to, but not including, DCS / SCADA integration).
- Recommend product improvements to Thermon's Engineering / R&D departments.
- Specify, quote, and perform detailed design of communication and control systems (networking equipment, cabling, protocol translators, servers, etc.).
- Install and commission communication and control systems (network testing, basic server admin, basic SQL database admin, etc.)
- Provide post-installation support as needed.
- Coordinate the tasks and activities of a four-person team using a task management system, time / cost estimation, and visibility metrics.
- Communicate with customers and internal stakeholders about expectations, timelines and any issues.
- Performs other related duties as required and assigned.
Qualifications & Experience
- 5+ Years of experience in Industrial Operational Technology Networking
- Networking technology knowledge (TCP / IP, routing, switching, wireless communication, optical networking, etc.)
- Ability to select and specify IT networking equipment (wireless, optical, wired, switches, hubs, routers, transceivers, etc.)
- Experience creating IT network design drawings and one-line communication drawings for industrial plants and facilities
- Experience designing, deploying and troubleshooting wireless communication networks in an industrial facility
- Experience with Microsoft Server and basic server administration skills
- Experience with Microsoft SQL Server and writing basic SQL queries
- Knowledge of Power BI (direct report writing experience is a plus)
