Responsibilities Medical Surgical setting within a hospital Assignment includes work in an Observation Unit (10 Bed ER Overflow) focused on rapid admissions and discharges Day shift ratios are 1 : 5; night shift ratios are 1 : 6 Staffing ratios may flex to 8 patients, with LPN support when above standard ratios Work every other weekend is required Night shifts are 3x12 hours; scheduled from 19 : 00 to 07 : 30 Floating to other Med / Surg units is required, typically once per week Travelers are prioritized to float to other units Observation Unit responsibilities include frequent patient assessments and determining discharge readiness Team consists of RNs, LPNs, and Techs providing collaborative patient care Mandatory annual and orientation modules are self-reported and non-billable No block scheduling can be guaranteed No holiday time off requests accepted; requests discussed with manager for possible accommodation Return staff are eligible if more than 6 months since last assignment Local candidates accepted at the same rate as travelers Requirements Active Michigan RN license required Current AHA BLS certification required Minimum one year of recent Med / Surg RN experience required Prior travel nursing experience required Must be willing and able to work with a variety of staff, including RNs, LPNs, and techs Proof of Flu vaccination required or exemption request within 48 hours of signing contract References required for consideration Benefits High Pay and Bonuses Medical, Dental and Vision Insurance with Day 1 Options 401(k) Plan Weekly Payroll Deposit Free Online CEUs Generous Housing Allowance Travel and Licensure Reimbursements Non-taxed Per Diem and Subsidy Traveler Rewards and Discounts American Traveler Job ID P-626256.
