Student Engagement Specialist
The Engagement Coordinator will regularly communicate directly with prospective students via phone, text, email, and in-person both in response to prospective student inquiries and proactively, according to scheduled follow-up. They will develop relationships with external groups and organizations so that educational opportunities at DIU may be presented to prospective students in on-campus and off-campus events. In addition, they are responsible for developing and administering communication systems in the engagement of prospective students for DIU.
Responsibilities:
- Frequent interaction with prospective students and the public
- Maintain good public relations with prospective student leads, students' families, and school personnel through proper telephone technique, personal interviews, and electronic correspondence with complete and accurate record keeping
- Communicate with prospective students in a timely manner, ensuring that inquiries receive a personal response within one business day.
- Track all inquiries through Slate CRM software and their status in the enrollment funnel.
- Develop, test, and improve strategies for converting inquiries to applicants.
- Manage and execute scheduled follow-up communications for prospective students.
- Stay continually informed on all programs and initiatives at DIU (scholarships, events, etc.) in order to communicate effectively with prospective students and families.
- Learn essentials and some advanced functions of Slate CRM for communications and workflows.
- Coordinate and execute recruitment initiatives which fit within DIU's recruitment strategy
- Facilitate public presentations to find and attract students
- Manage and execute campus visits and tours for prospective students
- Coordinate and execute on-campus events for prospective students
- Required travel:
- Occasional domestic travel outside of the Dallas-Fort Worth metropolitan area to represent DIU at recruiting events and conferences. Multi-day trips likely.
- Regular travel within the Dallas-Fort Worth metropolitan area to build connections with church and school leaders and administrators as well as to represent DIU to local students.
- Mileage compensation is provided for the use of personal vehicles. Other travel expenses such as airfare, food, and lodging are directly covered by DIU.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree or higher
- Previous experience in either sales or in higher-ed admissions and recruitment strongly preferred
- Strong oral communications
- Ability to communicate across different platforms
- Professional demeanor, able to interact with students from different cultural backgrounds
- Previous experience with CRM (customer relationship management) software preferred
Hours:
- Part-time, hours to be worked out in coordination with the supervisor. Some work time will be required in the evenings and weekends in order to engage with student inquiries in a timely manner, and for some recruitment events.
Physical Requirements:
Good physical health is required as the role involves the execution of events which may require extended periods of standing and/or walking as well as lifting materials weighing up to 40 lbs.
