The Construction Superintendent is responsible for the daily activity on the job site to ensure subcontractors are performing according to the contract and that the budget, site plans and schedules are adhered to. This position is the main point of contact at the site.
Responsibilities
- Review plans and specifications for errors and report findings to project manager
- Hold preconstruction meetings with subcontractors, private utilities, and municipal officials
- Monitor daily weather reports and coordinate work efforts and precautions as required
- Coordinate installation of temporary utilities (power, telephone, water)
- Coordinate construction stakeout (provide a minimum of 48 hours' notice to engineers)
- Coordinate subcontractor work efforts (provide a minimum of 5 days' notice of start of work and update every 48 hours)
- Conduct daily erosion and sediment control inspection
- Conduct daily clean-up (trash, debris, street cleaning)
- Coordinate material deliveries
- Coordinate project work areas (stockpile areas, construction entrances, port-a-potty locations, material storage areas)
- Update construction schedules daily and provide updates to office
- Coordinate any subcontractor notifications with project manager
- Maintain daily reports
- Monitor subcontractor inspections
- Monitor subcontractor testing
- Coordinate and oversee private testing (concrete, soils, etc.)
- Coordinate private utility installation (power, gas, telephone, cable)
- Hold weekly project meetings on site with all subcontractors and provide written notes / documentation of meeting to project manager
- Process change order requests to project manager
- Check all material deliveries against purchase orders
- Oversee and tally all earthwork haul tickets and submit to project manager on a weekly basis
- Monitor OSHA safety regulations and ensure subcontractor compliance
- Monitor all company equipment
- Monitor all project closeout procedures (as-builts, inspections, punch lists, monumentation)
Qualifications
Education : minimum High School, prefer four year degreeExperience : minimum 3 years in construction or related field; thorough knowledge of commercial and site development projects; understanding of applicable building codes, OSHA regulations, and governing standardsProficient in Microsoft Office, Project, plan take-offs, project budgets and estimatingStrong scheduling skillsGood written, oral and reading communication skillsExcellent interpersonal skills and the ability to interact with all levels of personnelPhysical Requirements
