Position Summary

Join our team as a Project Engineer (PE) and take the lead on exciting, large-scale projects that challenge your technical expertise and leadership skills. As a key member of our engineering department, you'll work closely with the Chief Engineer and Project Manager to define and manage the resources, schedule, and costs for our cutting-edge projects. Collaborating with diverse teams across our organization, including QA, Manufacturing, Purchasing, Shipping and Receiving, you'll provide crucial engineering support throughout the manufacturing, integration, and testing phases. With your guidance, our engineering team will deliver high-quality solutions from initial concept to successful completion, ensuring project and production availability align with customer specifications.   • Capable of developing and leading a small engineering team through a complex submarine overhaul.

  • Ability to read and interpret blue prints, applicable submarine specifications and Special Emphasis Program requirements.
  • \n

  • Ability to work as part of a team of managers and technical personnel and support multiple projects.
  • \n

  • Strong organizational skills and analytical / logical approach.
  • \n

  • Ability to synthesize diverse information (technical, schedule) and exercise good judgment.
  • \n

  • Good technical judgment and some independent evaluation, originality and ingenuity are expected.
  • \n \n

    Duties And Responsibilities

    \n

  • Independently performs difficult engineering tasks to completion that may include a variety of complex features, conflicting design requirements, unusual materials requirements, and the need to coordinate the work of others.
  • \n

  • Excellent technical judgment, and appreciable independent evaluation, creativity, and latitude in making decisions are expected.
  • \n

  • Demonstrates ability to devise innovative solutions to problems.
  • \n

  • Develops objectives, schedules, and estimates for difficult assignments.
  • \n

  • Directs and supervises the activities of small to moderate size teams of engineers and tech writers
  • \n

  • Reviews progress and evaluates results of work accomplished by self and others.
  • \n

  • Interacts with customer technical representatives to define and manage customer expectations.
  • \n

  • Uses team management skills to lead the design or production engineering group during various phases of a project or availability.
  • \n

  • Reviews Engineering Work Packages (e.g. TGIs) related to project.
  • \n

  • Reviews / answers / approves Engineering Change documents (e.g. CRs, LARs, DFSs) related to project.
  • \n \n

    OTHER DUTIES AS ASSIGNED :

    \n

  • Assist in Bid and Proposal efforts including cost estimating, technical approach definition, and input to baseline schedule data.
  • \n

  • Participate in Technical Working Groups to assess and improve processes and capabilities.
  • \n \n

    Qualifications

    EDUCATION :

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, Ocean or Nuclear) or Naval Architecture from accredited college or university; Master's Degree in related field preferred.
  • \n

    EXPERIENCE : \n

  • Minimum 5 years engineering experience in complex systems design, manufacturing, and integration environment. Knowledge related to submarine structural fabrication and welding requirements such as NAVSEA Tech Pub 1688, 278, or 248 and the NAVSEA URO / MRC program desired.
  • \n

  • Demonstrated knowledge of military, and commercial, construction and material specifications applicable to Submarine and Deep Submergence System work.
  • \n

  • Demonstrated ability to lead technical groups.
  • \n

  • Excellent communications and organizational skills.
  • \n

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office products is required. Working knowledge of CAD software, such as AutoCAD or SolidWorks or similar packages, is preferred.
  • \n \n

    KNOWLEDGE : \n

  • Demonstrated knowledge of military, and commercial, construction and material specifications applicable to Submarine and Deep Submergence System work.
  • \n

  • Possesses and applies an advanced knowledge of engineering principles and practices in one or more engineering fields.
  • \n

  • Demonstrated knowledge of SUBAFE or SOC requirements is preferred.
  • \n \n

    PRODUCTION ENGINEERING :

    \n

  • Has provided field support in engineering capacity.
  • \n

  • Understands engineering project performance metrics.
  • \n \n

    OTHER PREREQUISITES :

    \n

  • Candidate will have to perform in an ISO-9000 rated company in a rapidly changing and demanding atmosphere.
  • \n

  • Must be able to obtain a U.S. DoD Secret Security Clearance.
  • \n

  • Must be a U.S. citizen who is not a dual citizen of any other country.
  • \n

  • Must be willing to travel up to 25%.
  • \n

  • Basic understanding of Project Management.
