Job Purpose
The Environmental, Health, and Safety Specialist is responsible for monitoring and maintaining environmental and safety management programs. The EH&S Specialist will be focused on daily, weekly, monthly, and annual activities essential to compliance and continuous improvement of EH&S performance.
Duties and responsibilities
- Conduct Regular Inspections throughout the facility, focusing on areas such as :
Hazardous Waste Collection & Storage
Chemical Receiving & Storage AreasFire and Life SafetyPollution Control Equipment and EmissionsMonitor and Assist with Facility Operations , including :Emissions Control Equipment
EH&S Monitoring EquipmentWaste / Trim Removal SystemsDock / Truck RestraintsOverhead DoorsLadders & StairsForklift & Material LiftsMaintain EHS EquipmentPerform calibrations and ensure functionality of environmental and safety monitoring equipment, including LEL Monitors, Dosimeters, and Anemometers
Ensure Accurate Records :Ensure compliance with all regulatory and recordkeeping requirements related to inspections and operations.
Develop and Deliver Training :Provide safety / environmental training to groups of 10-50 people weekly, as directed by EH&S Management.
Assist with Accident / Injury Investigations :Investigate incidents and assist with root cause analyses
Identify corrective actions and follow up on their implementation.Monitor and Track Energy Consumption throughout the facility.Identify Waste Reduction Opportunities :Look for ways to minimize or reduce waste within the facility.
Manage ISO 14001 Documentation :Create and update documents within the ISO 14001 Environmental Management System.
Strong Computer Skills Required :Confidently use Word, Excel, and PowerPoint for daily tasks and reporting.
Work with cloud-based data tracking software regularly.Use a tablet for inspections, filing reports, and taking notes.Manage and track training assignments through our online training platform.Work a Flexible Schedule :Must be able to work flexible hours to support our 24 / 7 operation.
Perform additional duties as assigned by Management.Qualifications
A.S. Degree in a technical field required, B.S. degree preferred.Minimum of 3 years’ experience in an EH&S role within a manufacturing environmentDemonstrated knowledge of EPA, OSHA, and DOT regulationsThis job is a good fit if you :

Physical Demands
Ability to work in an office setting, and spend primary working hours at a desk using a computer and other office equipment such as printers, copiers, postage machines, etc.Must be able to use, handle, and manipulate items and materials, including hazardous materials, with proper material handling equipment / tools.Must complete 24 / 40-hour HAZWOPER Training and be medically qualified to wear respiratory protection.Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform essential functions.
Safety Requirements
