Manager, Grid Modernization
The Manager, Grid Modernization plays a dual role, providing leadership and coaching to Grid Modernization team members while also contributing billable hours to client projects. Reporting to the Director, Grid Modernization, this role supports the management and development of team members delivering Grid Modernization solutions for utility clients, including but not limited to Advanced Distribution Management Systems (ADMS) and Distributed Energy Resource Management Systems (DERMS). The Manager is a hands-on leader who actively participates in client projects, stepping into various technical and non-technical roles across strategy development, implementation, and integration efforts to ensure successful project delivery. In collaboration with the Director, the Manager fosters a positive team culture, provides regular feedback, supports professional growth, and ensures alignment with company and client goals. Roles and Responsibilities
The responsibilities of the Manager, Grid Modernization role are as follows :
- Recruit, mentor, and develop Grid Modernization team members by setting clear performance expectations, conducting regular performance reviews and creating individual development plans aligned with practice and company goals.
- Serve as a Mosaic brand ambassador by fostering a high-performance, inclusive, and collaborative team culture that reflects the company's values and commitment to excellence.
- Lead end-to-end delivery of Grid Modernization engagements (e.g., ADMS, DERMS) to ensure projects are delivered on time, within scope and budget, and meet or exceed quality expectations.
- Participate in project planning and execution activities, including governance routines, risk and issue management, change control, and client communications; ensure transparent reporting and proactive delivery of client value.
- Support account planning and business development by contributing to scoping, proposal development, and shaping future-state roadmaps and business cases; identify and pursue opportunities to expand within existing accounts.
- Develop thought leadership content such as presentations, case studies, and white papers to showcase expertise and support business growth.
- Collaborate with leadership including the Director, Grid Modernization, to identify new business opportunities and strengthen existing client relationships.
- Promote standardized methodologies and practices by encouraging adoption of playbooks, templates, and reusable artifacts, while capturing and sharing lessons learned and best practices.
- Drive continuous improvement and innovation through technology scouting, pilot programs, and adoption of advancements in digitalization, analytics, and security.
- Ensure adherence of team operations to Mosaic safety, security, regulatory, and quality standards across all deployments; oversee audit trails and documentation quality.
- Support the development and enforcement of internal governance frameworks, standards and best practices.
- Identify and assess the operational, financial and reputational risks within the Grid Modernization team scope.
- Optimize staffing across projects; identify skill gaps, recruit or upskill as needed, and balance billable and non-billable work to meet targets.
- Manage team capacity with project timelines to minimize over- or under-utilization.
- Foster cross-functional collaboration and stakeholder alignment by building partnerships with other practice areas, internal teams (e.g., Consulting Services, Marketing), clients, and external partners; facilitate executive-level communications as needed.
- Establish and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) for delivery (on-time / on-budget), utilization, client satisfaction, and growth, report progress to leadership.
Skills and Experience
Experience : 5+ years in grid modernization or utility technology programs, including experience in a people leadership or project management role.Delivery and leadership : Proven ability to manage multiple complex projects, lead cross-functional teams, and influence senior clients.Technical domain : Practical experience with ADMS and DERMS; familiarity with major grid modernization platforms and at least one implementation of ABB, OSI, GE, Oracle, Hitachi Energy, or Schneider Electric ADMS software.Communication : Excellent written and verbal communication; proven ability to present to executives and facilitate client workshops.Travel : Willingness to travel as required by client engagements.Advanced capabilities : Experience with data analytics, cyber security considerations in grid operations, and change management.Additional domain knowledge : Experience with utility IT / OT integration, interoperability standards, and regulatory / compliance considerations.Leadership skills : Emotional intelligence, strategic thinking, problem-solving, and negotiation abilities.Results orientation : Customer-centric and performance-driven mindset with a proven track record of delivering value in complex and ambiguous environments.Collaboration and influence : Ability to work effectively across matrixed teams and client organizations to drive alignment and results.Working Relationships

Bachelor's degree in technical discipline (e.g., Computer or Electrical Engineering) or equivalent experience.Certifications : PMP, PgMP, or equivalent program management certification; Agile / Scrum credentials (e.g., CSPO, CSM) are a plus.Physical Demands and Work Environment

Compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case. Mosaic strives to set salaries at, or near the 50th percentile (midpoint) of the range, and it is not typical for candidates to be hired at or near the top of the range for the position. A reasonable estimate for this position is $200,000.00 to $220,000.00. This position is eligible to participate in a discretionary bonus program of up to 10% of annual compensation. The bonus program is dependent on a variety of factors including organizational and individual performance.
