Strategic Planning & Chief of Staff, Principal - Data & Analytics
Your Role
The enterprise-wide Data & Analytics (D&A) team is seeking to hire a Strategic Planning & Chief of Staff, Principal. This role reports directly to VP of Data & Analytics and is expected to work team-wide, IT-wide, and enterprise-wide as a critical part of Blue Shields data-driven and mission-driven journey of transforming the world of healthcare.
The D&A team partners with business stakeholders to apply the power of data, analytics, and data science to deliver new insights and data-driven solutions to accelerate business outcomes.
This Principal role is the glue that binds the D&A team together with the mission of making the team more effective in a chief-of-staff type capacity.
Your Work
In this role, you will :
- Be responsible for people management : tracking headcount / team demographics, assessing skills, identifying training gaps, implementing programs, tracking / updating career path levels / descriptions, assisting with recruiting processes, and streamlining onboarding processes
- Play a critical role in team engagement : shaping team culture, driving team engagement via social events, volunteerism, lunch-n-learns, etc.
and managing and driving corporate team engagement and employee pulse scores
- Manage team budget : proactively suggesting changes / reallocations of budgets or new spending suggestions to meet desired team outcomes
- Manage and track project execution : defining / tracking team performance goals, roadmap planning, improving ways of working / processes with business stakeholders, corporate function partners, and external vendors, and helping program manage complex initiatives as needed;
ensuring strategic interests of team are appropriately prioritized when cross-functional support is needed
- Foster collaboration : creating or leveraging methods and processes to improve team effectiveness and sharing of information (MS Teams channels, JIRA dashboards, shared drives, SharePoint intranet sites, all-hands speakers, co-pilot chatbots, etc.)
- Manage team communications : sharing results from the team within the team, within IT, or across the enterprise about the great work and impact of the D&A team, e.
g. managing the weekly Wins of the Week email, partnering with internal and external communications teams to amplify the brand / presence for the D&A team and Blue Shield of California overall via corporate intranet posts, external LinkedIn posts, etc.
- Manage team operations : creating / managing meeting agendas and tracking action items, all-hands meetings, creating content / presentations as needed, presenting at or facilitating meetings and even standing in for the VP as needed
- Act as support for moving the D&A organization towards a repeatable product & services-oriented model in order to serve our stakeholders
Your Knowledge and Experience
Requires a bachelors degree or equivalent experience with at least 10 years of relevant work experience, ideally interacting with or supporting technically-oriented teams;
working with data & analytics teams / exposure a strong plus; direct experience serving as a chief of staff or COO preferred
Clear communicator; requires the ability to succinctly assemble and communicate / present status updates or recommendations or other key messages to audiences ranging from middle management to senior executives;
must be adept at both structuring presentations or documents as well as actually producing well-designed executive-level content in PowerPoint
- Facile with program / project management and can coordinate across multiple groups as needed
- Comfortable handling confidential information and acting as a liaison between multiple stakeholders, both internal and external
- Strong experience with communication, collaboration, and visualization tools like Slack, Jira, Tableau, MS Teams, Sharepoint, etc.
must be very comfortable with MS Office Suite
- Analytically-oriented and easily able to analyze data sets in MS Excel including pivots, filters, slicers, etc. e.g. a database of employees or projects
- Very detail oriented; must take pride in end products
- Extremely organized; able to manage multiple priorities across multiple tracks of work; partners to complete timely completion of tasks
- Excellent influence and engagement skills in building alignment and accountability without formal ownership or authority over resources

Pay Range :
The pay range for this role is : $ 145970.00 to $ 218900.00 for California.

Please note that this range represents the pay range for this and many other positions at Blue Shield that fall into this pay grade.
