Quality Assurance Manager
Under the direction of the Plant Manager, the Quality Assurance Manager is responsible for overseeing all food safety and quality functions at the facility. This role ensures compliance with food safety regulations, manages QA / QC teams, and leads initiatives to maintain high standards across production, packaging, and warehouse operations.
The QA Manager monitors processes, conducts employee training, and ensures adherence to Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP), HACCP, and GFSI guidelines. They lead root cause analyses for customer complaints, implement corrective actions, and manage internal audits and inspections. The role also includes oversight of product testing, sanitation programs, pest control, and recall procedures.
Responsibilities include overseeing all food safety and quality functions at the facility, ensuring compliance with food safety regulations and company standards, managing QA / QC teams and leading initiatives to maintain high production standards, monitoring processes and conducting employee training in compliance with GMP, HACCP, and GFSI guidelines, leading root cause analyses for customer complaints and implementing corrective actions, managing internal audits, inspections, and ensuring adherence to food safety protocols, overseeing product testing, sanitation programs, pest control, and recall procedures, supervising a team of hourly employees and managing scheduling, and supporting continuous improvement efforts across departments.
Essential skills include a strong understanding of food safety regulations including FSMA, HACCP, GMP, and GFSI, experience leading internal audits and managing corrective actions, proficiency in microbiological and analytical testing (moisture, color, physical attributes), skilled in managing and training cross-functional teams, ability to develop and implement food safety training programs, familiarity with product recall and traceability procedures, competent in using Microsoft Office and ERP systems like SAP, effective communication and interpersonal skills, strong problem-solving and root cause analysis abilities, ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment, and bilingual (English / Spanish) preferred.
Additional skills and qualifications include a Bachelor's degree in food science or a related field preferred, experience in a manufacturing environment preferred, and capable of managing lab equipment calibration and documentation.

Work environment : This role is based in a manufacturing facility that produces onions, working in a lab environment around chemicals. The position requires wearing personal protective equipment (PPE) and working in a plant setting.
Job Type & Location : This is a permanent position based out of Fernley, Nevada.
Pay and Benefits : The pay range for this position is $95,000.00 - $120,000.00 / yr.
