The non-profit Statue of Liberty-Ellis Island Foundation seeks a full-time, exempt Technical Support Specialist. This is a chance to join one of the most successful public-private partnerships in the country, and contribute to a major campaign to reimagine the museum on Ellis Island and an upgrade of the Foundations IT systems through a Digital Transformation. The Technical Support Specialist will assist in managing all the Foundations information technology, including but not limited to desktops, laptops, servers, exhibit technology, and user security. This position supports the Foundations offices in downtown Manhattan, Liberty Island, and Ellis Island.
Responsibilities
- Install, configure, test, and maintain desktops, servers, AV systems, and network hardware. Determine replacement as needed within SLA.
- Assist in detailed documentation of IT and AV system configurations and schematics, ensuring information is presented clearly and concisely.
- Assist in managing IT inventory and equipment reports; interpreting technical manuals.
- Support IT projects, including Ellis Island Museum Reimagined planning and installation.
- Monitor and manage tickets within the incident management system; troubleshoot and resolve Tier 1 infrastructure issues as needed.
- Follow established change control procedures for all changes to systems.
- Stay updated on IT trends and provide recommendations.
Qualifications
Bachelors degree in a relevant field, equivalent work experience, or certifications required.Proficient in testing, diagnosing, maintaining, and performing basic repairs on computer hardware and software.Relevant certifications such as CompTIA or CTS are a plus.One year of experience supporting a Microsoft Windows environment, including Active Directory and Office 365, is preferred.Solid understanding of the OSI model and TCP / IP networking fundamentals.Familiarity with Bash, PowerShell, or other command-line tools is a plus.Strong ability to respond promptly and effectively to urgent technical needs.Customer service support tailored to key stakeholders, including the National Park Service, C-level executives, and VIPs, following ITIL best practices.Logistics
This is a full-time position with full benefits.This position pays $62,000 $65,000 annually.The Liberty and Ellis monuments are open every day except Thanksgiving and Christmas, so the job schedule will require consistent weekend work to ensure coverage. Daily hours will follow a typical schedule, though the job may sometimes include hours before / after the museums are open to the public to service museum exhibits or support occasional events.The work hours are generally Monday through Friday 8 : 30am-4 : 30pm, but flexibility may occasionally be required for weekend or early museum arrival times.This position will work primarily on Ellis Island with periodic work in Manhattan and on Liberty Island. Occasional remote work may be possible. Travel between the 3 work sites via ferry is provided.This job operates within public spaces at both the Statue of Liberty and Ellis Island Museums.A high level of physical fitness and the ability to lift heavy equipment is required. The ability to stand, kneel and / or crouch for extended periods of time is required. Must be able and willing to access technical infrastructure where needed, including but not limited to climbing ladders, large stairs, and scaffolding.Application process
